Day 296 — Real MarinaNova — Busted
[ Did you really think you'd be allowed to explore freely to your hearts content? This was never meant to happen and it certainly wasn't meant to last — before long the security system kicks into gear, unleashing a veritable swarm of spider robots designed to encourage and hoard reluctant prisoners. You're welcome to try and escape or even destroy a few, but they'll keep coming in overwhelming numbers, armed with tiny tasers that zap and prod until every single one of you has been sniffed out and brought to the exercise yard.

The Engineers are waiting for you there. You were brave enough to exploit a security breach. Perhaps your rewards will be a one-on-one with the very people responsible for keeping you here? Or perhaps this is just a way to buy time. Either way, you'll be stuck out here until they decide to end it. ]

[ The betrayal was a tangible one. So simple and yet it struck to the very core of their work, something Mary had great difficulty reconciling with.

It wasn't the fault of the prisoners. They were such curious creatures, innocent and naive in a way she had to admire, somehow. That was why they had agreed that this was the best course of action — an audience, as the system worked to restore things to status quo. There was little else to do and this way... at least they could minimize the damage.

Standing regal, swathed in black veils that hid the details of her true form — distinctly not human, no amount of fabric could cover that fact — she waited, the mask that represented her features tilted in curiousity. ]

[ being the counselor she is, deanna holds herself as straight as possible. there's a lot of fear and anger buried inside right now, but at least she's not crying like she was and her eyes are no longer red. she looks fairly normal now.

so she's careful when she finally approaches each being individually. no use in being confrontational or upset when one needs to be diplomatic. information is what she wants, not a confrontation. ]

Are you one of the people in charge here?

[ her voice is calm and even, just as it normally is, with a slightly hard edge. she's not giving them emotion. part of that is because she always feels like she's lost a limb when she doesn't have her empathic abilities and part is because she knows the importance of this meeting. diplomacy is the game now. ]

[Smith is not happy. If you know anything about her people you'd be able to tell this from the way the normally greyish-brown exoskeleton has warmed and darkened to a bold russet. But you probably don't know anything about her people. In fact, you might be looking at this multi-eyed, multi-legged lady who is a good two feet taller than the tallest in your bunch and thinking she's a monster or an inmate from sector 6.]

Aren't you all curious and eager? [The voice forms perfectly coherent words, translated by your collars, but there is an effect to it that sounds something like the hollow trill of a cicada. Just walking into any glowing door that will have you.
