Ten minutes ago an early warning system I set up detected the first signatures of an incoming fleet. We have twenty minutes to scramble anything we can get into space and prepare people on the ground to fight.

Vakarian and I have faced these things before, but I'm not going to lie and say this is going to be a cake walk. The Reapers are deadly, and they have the goal of wiping every last human being from the face of the Earth. London lost 75% of its population in the course of a single week.

But we have an advantage that I didn't have in my dreams. We have you. We're going to stop them before they land on Earth. We're going to make sure the apocalypse never happens and if we do our job right, most people will never know how close we came.

Local television channels and radio stations are experiencing some kind of interference today, and there are reports of atmospheric disturbances. Authorities advise that people stay indoors today if at all possible.

Last week the Wildlife Conservation Society reported that ducks had become extinct, however today they are recanting that report. There has been no official report as to what caused them to suspect that ducks had become extinct only that they are now saying that is not the case and ducks are nowhere near becoming extinct.

According to the Wildlife Conservation Society, a new report claims that ducks are now extinct. This comes as quite the shock considering there have been no reports about ducks even being on the endangered species list.

It starts around eleven-thirty. A star bursts into flame, somewhere on the horizon. What once was a dark blue sphere, sparkling with millions of points of light takes on a haze of orange as the brightest star in the galazy appears to come ever closer.

Is it a shooting star? Is it a comet? Astronomers take notice and begin to pour over charts and scientific measurements. But before they can puzzle through what might be coming earth's way, it arrives.

The stars fade and the blue sky is blotted out by orange fire. The fire forms into a distinctive pair of wings. Talons of flame and a tail fade off at the edge of the horizon, and a bird's head comes to life, screeching in jubilation. Moments later, it shrinks and flies off somewhere, leaving a trail of flame behind it in the sky.

Somewhere in Lake Forest, it finds what it was searching for. A house in the back of a sleepy little cul-de-sac gains a halo of phoenix-shaped light, before it disappears in a column of fire.
