If not, then maybe there's just something in the water, and turning into terrorists and sycophants is some weird side effect of lead poisoning.

So, I don't know if you've heard the news, but we've officially gotten the boot from the ICW. This is thoroughly Not Surprising--anyone who has a pulse and has not been thoroughly indoctrinated at the DIMC pretty much saw this coming. Most countries are pissed at us, and even if its not always out of a true sense of equality and justice, people definitely hate that we're stirring the pot.

But cue the nationalistic bravado about not needing the rest of the world, hail Britannia, etc. I'm sorry, but that's a bunch of codswallop. This is humiliating, we are officially a pariah nation.

On the bright side, there's a part of me that hopes this will be some sort of wake up call, if not in the short term, then in the long term. Like it or not, the Ministry needs other governments to cooperate with them in order to be successful, and not even being in the ICW anymore gives other nations very little incentive to play nice with us. If we keep it up, next it's going to be economic sanctions. Folks might not find that quite as amusing.

This week is going to suck.

I'm not really willing to do anymore than give you o-mail addresses, but that should be enough. I know a few people who are relocating in light of this, so I'm sure they would be willing to speak candidly, considering. A lot of places are bringing their Muggleborn employees back home, too, so they'd be willing to talk, I think.

Don't ask me why I'm at work on a Saturday (but I'll give you a hint: concerned Canadians) It's not usually very exciting, but then Harry Potter knocked over one of my Canadians.

So I was looking up some podcasts this morning before work, and I came across something called "Potterwatch." Have any of you heard of it? Obviously the name was intriguing enough for me to open it. They used code-names, but two of the voices were definitely very familiar, though I don't really want to speculate too much on who they might be, since I'm sure they have a very good reason for trying to maintain privacy. They were talking about an attack at King's Cross yesterday on Muggle-born students, and then they got me ugly crying by asking us to remember out first day at Hogwarts, and it made me remember how excited I was and how different the world was then.

Ugh, didn't need that, really, but I hadn't even heard about an incident at King's Cross until I stumbled on this weird broadcast. We're so swamped with inquiries from anxious foreign delegations wanting to know if a refugee crisis is imminent and what the fuck are we doing, etc. (to which my answers are basically IDK??? in several different languages), that we barely know what's going on with the other departments.

The Potterwatch people also had some choice wards against maintaining neutrality...which I kinda agree with, but it's also kinda nice if you even have the luxury to be so outspoken about everything.

In case you thought everything was terrible, someone out there mass-produced a sexy Jon Snow costume. Or is this just further evidence that everything is going to hell? I can't decide.

But Game of Thrones? Never much understood the appeal of it, myself. Our histories of magic have been much more thorough and interesting. Dragons are likewise alive and well, as they very well should be.

What's it like out there?

This mornings interview in the Prophet gives much for us to debate about. Whether the findings have any merit. For those, as the interview put it, "identify as muggle-born" what if it is found they do a wizarding ancestry they did not know about. Or is it all hogwash? What are your thoughts and feelings on the matter?

Also, while I am new to the land of "Hooter" what are people's the roguemomstaffers claims? Are they more airs of truth, or just a pissed off employee? Can any one explain how I could contact them for anonymous comment? Is this what the youth call sliding into their DMs?
