After the ... questionable ... poetry I read here the other day, I thought about sharing something of Yeats (it was probably going to be The Song of Wandering Aengus) in honour of Ireland and all, but then I found this other one that was dated approximately 13-17th centuries. Anonymous, of course.
The son of the King of the River Muad,
in midsummer,
found a maiden in a greenwood:
she gave him blackberries
from the bushes,
and as love-token,
strawberries on a rush-tip.

Anyway.

The cat has been hanging out like this today:

He is ridiculous.

ORDER:
Just a heads up for the immediate future - a friend brought me a patient who can't go to Mungo's, for reasons which I'm sure you can fill in for yourself. I don't want anyone getting caught up. I'll let you know when the coast is clear. Don't get in a lot of trouble right now! Or just go to my house! The cat might hiss, but anyone can camp out there as long as you need to and help yourselves to anything I have in the cupboards, medicinal and otherwise.

Good news is I can use us to help get this person somewhere safer once we can move them again, so thank you, for existing. I don't think I've thanked you all enough for that.

Happy pancake day, everyone.

What’s your favourite kind? I’m looking to make more than I can possibly eat myself, so - why not try something new?

Pets are odd, right? I can't be the only one with an odd pet.

For example:
cut for photo )

Shortly after I took that, he dragged the shoe off and I've yet to find it again. I understand where the desire to roll over my shoes comes from (marking territory; comfort), but the kidnapping of just one? He could have taken the other for a matching set. (He didn't. He left it alone.) I assume he must have an incredible hoard of both junk AND things I actually needed and had to replace when he ran off with them/hid them forever.

So what's the strangest thing your pet's done? Or worst. Any story will do.

ORDER:
Hi, everyone. I assume everyone got a basic run-down on me already or I wouldn't be here (much appreciated,
by the way), but I wanted to mention a few things.

First, I've been working on my stockpiles of potions and ingredients for a couple months now, just in case I ever started to have trouble acquiring anything - I may have gotten ahead of myself, but I'm not about to be caught unaware. If there's anything we need in particular, please let me know.

Second, after the Ministry came out with those rubbish IDs, I took some time to find a property that I could use if things went bad at St. Mungo's, or if a patient would have run into trouble there. Remus has been, so if we ever need it for ourselves or for someone else who doesn't want to (or can't) go to the hospital, one of us can show you. (Jeremy, Ted, I'd be glad to take you sometime soon, too.)

Since it’s that time of year (how is it that time of year already?): New Year’s resolutions, yea or nay, and if yea, what would you do? I’ve tried before and forgotten all about it by February. I think if I made any this ear, it’d be 1) go on a bloody holiday somewhere far away (visiting family doesn’t count) and 2) take more photos of the cat.

Speaking of, I walked by my neighbour’s house the other day:

REMUS LUPIN:
You like adventures. I have something to show you.
IMOGEN MONTAGUE:
How are you holding up with... you know. Is there anything we can do?

To echo what Healer Montague said, I will also be offering my services off-site. You can reach me at [number], or o-mail [here] for less urgent matters. I'm comfortable with a variety of diseases and injuries, and it is my belief that Healing should be free from these new limitations being set by our government and should be above such things as politics, blood status, economic status or anything else that humans use to separate each other. Every single person deserves access to medical care, and no one deserves to have that denied to them for any reason. I intend to uphold my duties to my patients above all else.

JEREMY, IMOGEN, TED:
Beyond what I said above, I'm looking into either renting or purchasing a location I can use for Healing that isn't associated with the address on file with the Ministry, in case they come knocking. I'm happy to let any of you use it, should it be necessary.

I hope we're just being paranoid, but I'd much rather be prepared for the worst.

FRIENDS *:
So things are shit these days. I think we can all agree about that. And I don't know about anyone else, but I feel particularly helpless in light of the DRCMC announcement. In an ideal world, the right sort of world, the government wouldn't make our lives more dangerous, or my life more difficult, but I fear the worst and I'd rather be prepared.

It also seems plants have been more of a problem lately, and I know some things about that, too.

My point is I'm good at a few things: I know plants and I know magical creatures. Both of these things seem like they will continue to be a concern for the foreseeable future, so after getting inspired recently, I want to try to make sure we can all take care of ourselves, our families and neighbours. Some of this would be hands-on learning, but I can write boring lectures, too. It's all I've got to give, really. Let me know. I'd recommend bringing treats for Apollo if you want to come over here. He likes bribery.

Also, if anyone has extra space to grow plants (the not-evil ones), I can outsource some of my inventory. Win/win? For us, at least.
[* ooc: if you're not sure about this, ask me and it's probably a yes ;) ]

I got out of bed this morning, couldn't find the cat. Went to make breakfast, still no sign of the cat. (He likes eggs. And bacon. And toast.) Went to the bathroom...

Dropped my cup. I don't know why he does this to me. I'm so nice to him, and he hides in the bathtub to stare at me.

(DORA) TONKS:
Anything yet?

Even in my profession, I don't think you ever truly get desensitized to loss. You shouldn't, as far as I'm concerned. You shouldn't get used to it. It shouldn't become normal. People surviving - people thriving, people getting to grow old and fulfill their dreams, all of that should be normal. When life has other ideas about that (which is more often than I'd like), so I try to get people talking about the person who's gone. Remembering. It's always difficult, but when someone's gone, what we have left is our memory of them.

I've tried to not forget. I think about who people were, who they might have become. And I think about who I've become, and who they'd want me to be. Today, especially, I think about what Lily would do.

Well, I'm not an idiot.

Days off are for:

Oh, who am I kidding. Every day is like that for him.

I decided to take stock of the herbs and flowers I've had drying, and I think I've figured out Christmas presents already. Well done, self. Now, I know what you're saying. "But it's not even October, you shit." That's true. But hear me out. Let's say you have a busy, erratic schedule, and you spend your free time catching up on sleep or keeping up with your cat's wiztagram fans (this is nearly a part-time job of its own, and it does not even pay. Am I doing this wrong? Do we need an agent?). Then one day you blink, and three months have gone by. Then you're fucked, because you still don't have any time, so let me have this.

In other news, apparently now October is the new month when the end of the world will begin, so all of my attempts to plan ahead for once may be for nothing.

Is it really a happy Friday if you're in the middle of your work week? Is it better to see the sunrise because you've just woken up, or because you're still awake? Just... wondering.
