We have some good news for a change--Teddy was born last night! We're very happy and excited to have you meet him, just let us know ahead of time if you want to come by--in case everything is shambles, or something. Which seems like a very real possibility.

Just to clarify, that Prophet article was written by potentially a member or at least an enormous sympathiser of the same group that dug up Gawain Robards' body and left it at his desk for all his former Auror colleagues to see? And the article really had the nerve to talk about dehumanisation? Perhaps that incident is what desensitised them. Anyway, I just thought that bit of hypocrisy made this latest shoddy attempt at journalism particularly hilaruous.

[LEON & REMUS]
Hi, Leon. My m- I'm in need of a new healer for the baby. We're due in a few days, so I guess it's more like any day now, really. I realise it's a lot to ask, and I'm not sure if this is even your expertise or something you're comfortable doing, so feel free to refer me to someone else--just as a friend, you're someone Remus and I trust, and we really haven't even told many people outside of the Order about the baby. Since, well...with all of the lunatics about. And we still want to at least try and keep it quiet, until things...calm down. or-

[ORDER]
Maddie Savage reached out to me about joining the Order. I told her the same thing that I'm now going to say to all of you--I think she'd be a true asset to our organisation. She is an Auror-trained duelist, strategist, and investigator with years of intel and experience dealing with all of our favourite Death Eating cretins. They're obviously wasting her at the Yaxley-controlled DMLE, which is in part why she felt compelled to join. I have faith in both her motivations and loyalties: and in case you think that's just the Hufflepuff in me talking, I did check her for Imperius before even engaging in the conversation by having her recount a rather embarrassing incident from my stealth exam that no Death Eater or anyone outside the Aurors would have any business knowing, tyvm.

Let me know, though, if you think this calls for a meeting.

P.S. Should we flood Avery with outlandishly false reports or just let all the galleon-hungry bottom feeders do the work for us? Poor bloke does look desperate. Which is to say, good work to all on that project. It sure did get them into a tizzy, which is a nice change of pace!

While I'll admit that it was nice to read something truthful in the Prophet for a change, I think the intent is quite obviously to spread fear and hopelessness. That is no way to honour Auror Robards' memory. Continued resistance and commitment to higher morals would be the more appropriate way to show respect to Robards, and I can guarantee many of us who knew and cared for him will continue to test the Death Eaters' patience and resist their "Dark Lord," whatever Lestrange has to say about it.

I think there's another message that can be taken from today's Prophet, though. If you're somehow still on the fence about whether or not what you love about our magical society and culture can be preserved under a Death Eater regime, like freedom of speech, expression, and free and fair elections, Auror Robards' death should give you a resounding "no." Maybe you think that once the dust settles and you're Pureblood or Halfblood that things can eventually go back to normal for you. Murdering your political opponents in the seat of government itself is not normal, it's a textbook sign of a fascist, totalitarian regime. So maybe it is a choice of life or death--will we continue to fight for the life of our free society and democratic traditions, or will we stand by complacently as they die alongside the Death Eater's victims?

Many of you were on this ward, but in case you didn't hear, Gawain Robards was murdered by Death Eaters.

The Aurors could use some help searching a few possible locations for his mother. I have the coordinates, if any of you are able to help.

Gawain's father has been murdered by Death Eaters, and his mother's gone missing, presumably taken by the bloody cowards. He's asked me to help find her, and I think utilising Order intelligence will give us a better chance. Unfortunately, we don't have many leads yet, but I think Nott is an obvious suspect to look rather closely at, given the election. If anyone else struck you as being particularly spiteful over the results of the election, they might be worth looking into as well.

I'll be going to his parents' place to look for clues and determine next steps. If any of you would be willing to involve yourselves in those next steps, I would really appreciate it. In the mean time, please let me know if you notice any unusual activity from our usual suspects, especially from Nott or any of his friends. I see Bellatrix is going on about something, though I'm not sure it's related.

Wow, it's almost like people don't like getting their homes set on fire and being routinely harassed and attacked or something.

In all seriousness, congratulations Ar Robards and Tinworth writ large. I've had the privilege of working with Gawain, he's a tireless and devoted civil servant. I've no doubt he will do his very best for Tinworth.

[MOLLY, backdated to after this]
Would you be able to work on a potion with me? Dedalus and I found a couple of hairs and, uh...nails and things at the cabin Remus went to. I was thinking there has to be a way to use these bits to reveal the identity of who they belong to. The only thing that comes to mind off the top of my head is poly-juice potion--if one of us turned into the assailant, we'd know who to go after. That might be kind of cumbersome, though, so I figured we could do some research to see if there's anything more suitable. Some of these are definitely going to be dead ends, but I feel like there has to be something valuable in the mix.

Remus never came home after the full and hasn't been in touch or responded to any messages. At first I wasn't sure if it was too soon to panic, but since I'm already panicking, I figured I'd let you all know.

We need to do something and soon, but I'm going to need some help even thinking straight right now.
[MUMS]
Remus never came home last night, and he's not responding to any of my messages. I'm going to come over. Or, no, actually, just in case he does turn up, can you come over here? I just don't want to be alone right now, and I specifically want to not be alone with you.

Obviously, Mum, I understand if you can't be in the U.K. right now because of snatcher rubbish. Could we face time?
[LEON]
Remus went missing last night. Technically, 24 hours have to pass before you can really be considered a missing person, but all things considered...I think it's reasonable to make some tough conclusions. I just thought you had a right to know before you start to wonder on your own.

Apologies for the short notice, but Remus and I would like to invite you all over tomorrow afternoon for an informal gathering, let's say, rather than a meeting. So, I've pieced together some bits of information. Some of you have probably already heard, but they've dissolved the Auror Office. Reprehensible, but not at all shocking, really. Aurors have got the option of transferring to the Hitwizard department, magical maintenance, or they can "fuck off" (direct quote from Yaxley, apparently). Robards also told me that their main duty is to police the "Wandless." At first I thought that meant tracking them and doing surveillance as we'd once done for suspected dark wizards, but I was at Diagon today near Slug & Jiggers and I ran into a sizable group of people who've had their wands taken away. I think--it seems that after Muggleborns have their wands confiscated, they're effectively trapped in Diagon with no way of apparating or getting out without a wand. The conditions were terrible. A man asked to use my wand to get out, but a Hitwitch confronted me. The DMLE are everywhere.

We have to do something, these people have essentially been made homeless, they have nowhere to go and no access to any resources without their wands. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ministry has seized their Gringotts accounts. It's going to have to be a group effort, too, as there's a lot of people who need help and a lot of DMLE.

So let's brainstorm. What can we do both in the short and long term?

And on an unrelated note, Remus and I spoke briefly about recruitment--the disbanding of the Aurors could be a good opportunity to get some more trained and frustrated people on our side. Kingsley might be a good person to do some outreach, a lot of them still respect him.

So, it sounds like the Ministry's policy of offering a financial reward for those found to be noncompliant with the MRC has (unsurprisingly!) inspired criminals to take matters into their own hands. Great governing, guys! 💯

I can't say that I'm surprised that Granger girl is wanted for questioning. There was always something very suspicious about her and I'm glad something is finally being done about it. Even if it does come to nothing I'll feel better knowing that she, and the others, were questioned properly.

I can't believe that it's already time for school to start once again. I'm going to miss my youngest siblings but it's nice to see them so excited to head back. I suppose I'll just have to spoil them more than usual for the next couple of weeks.

I know far, far better people than me have moved back in with their parents but no one really warns you about just how awkward it is to start with? Say, when I was a kid I had to account for my every move. I don't feel like I have to now, but it's almost a habit. And don't get me started on the arguments about how my socks really don't need ironing, or the times they forget I'm there and slip into habits from when I was away at school.

The fridge is never empty though, that's pretty good.

And I def. got away with burning their copy of the Prophet today.

Ugh, anyway, it's only going to be temporary.

Cute little list the Prophet published today. Very subtle.

So, I sorted my paperwork, I set my trainees up with new schedules and I'm not going back to work. And I'm furious. They have no right to make us choose between registering and God only knows what, and that disgusting Umbridge woman is sitting here chirping about "nothing sinister!" and oh my God where is the chocolate?

I've been at St Mungos nearly thirty years for fuck's sake.

[Gawain]
So who's going to round up those pesky muggleborns who won't register like that toad of a woman is demanding? I assume that's the next step, although I'll be delighted if you tell me I'm wrong.

[Drew Spinnet]
I sent your new schedule to your omail. I know it's a few days early, but I needed to clear my to-do list. Good luck.

Tan Jones Investments is not currently hiring (our turnover rate is astonishingly low!), unfortunately, but we are offering courses on self-defence and home security. Yours truly will be teaching the defence class for women and girls over sixteen, Thursdays at 4PM for the next four weeks. I cannot stress how important self-defence is, especially for young women. If you're interested, the rest of the information on this course and others can be found at www.tanjonesinvestments.com. You can also sign up online, or by phone, as we are working on phasing out our use of owls.

Hope everyone has a great (and safe!) day. :)

An interesting article to start out a day means the world to me. Whether or not you agree with the theories surrounding Muggle-born individuals, it has always been something magical society is intrigued in knowing. The genetics of magic is still being researched -- not taking in account that they haven't even scratched the surface on metamorphmagi births.

Well, that's a discussion for another day. Tonight on the Witching Hour, I'll be focusing on the announced Muggle-born Registration Commission and taking calls about recent Ministry of Magic shake ups.

Dear Glenda always wants to hear from you. ❤

Perhaps Ms. Umbridge should have simply said that her commission is for the greater good. It seemed to work for Grindelwald and recycling seems to be all the rage at the moment.

One of the more fascinating details surrounding urban archaeology is the wealth of data academics have been able to glean from privvies. You see, especially when London was a soup of smog and half-dead overworked 8 year olds, public sanitation was less of a priority than it is today and you did your business in a very nasty box in the courtyard. As houses were added to the public sewage line, these privies would be filled in with any sort of thing that was close at hand.

Today, excavating stone privy wells are a booming trade and we've learned quite a lot about daily life in Victorian London. Folks in New York City, St. Louis and even Cincinnati are engaging in some of the same sort of 'academic rigor'. So, big ups to privies for making us see the reality beyond what the histories written by well-connected toffs would suggest.

(By the bye? If this were Victorian London, how about this. I wouldn't even use that article to wipe my arse after a good long shit. As someone who has been Registered, allow me to say to you Muggleborns ... don't you dare trust it.)

Cheers to the lot of you. I'm off lunch, now.
