The Winter Olympics started, and though there are a lot of issues with the economic impact and spending a lot of money on things that don’t get used much again, I think it’s really interesting what they’re able to do. To come together for sporting events and to cheer on your country beyond just one sport, or even just cheer for someone really good from another country. It’s nice to see people respect talent and hard work, no matter who it is, and to see people set aside differences for a few weeks. Suppose it’s a temporary fix to problems like Quidditch was for us, where everything seems fine for a time and you can forget about everything else. I didn’t always pay a lot of attention to Muggle sports, but I started looking into it in last few years. I like watching the skiers. Oh, and hockey. Hockey reminds me of Quidditch sometimes.

Maybe I’ll learn something else with all this free time I have. Something tells me no one plans on bringing our sport back any time soon, especially with all the lying about what really happened. So much for Magical culture, right?

QUIDDITCH:
Does anyone want to go for a fly today? Or for a run. Or anything.
WILL:
How’s your recovery going?

PUREBLOOD MEN’S POKER GROUP:
Right, so a friend of mine needs some advice. There’s a girl he met up with, and they’re not dating, exactly, but he found out not too long ago that there’s going to be a kid, so he’d like to do something nice for her, but he has no idea what. My last relationship ended when I went to Azkaban, so I have no idea what to suggest. But several of you are (successfully) married, so I thought you’d have more insight than I would.

ooc note: this would have been announced among the relevant parties ICly prior to this, oocly we're in the throes of putting it together :D

[Purists]
Ms. Avery and I have been delighted by the interest in the Benefactors of Traditional Cultural Heritage Valentine's Day Gala, which is not too heavily focused on the theme of the day (we promise) but featuring a lovely collection of the fine arts, including a performance by the famed Sergei Nureyev and Nina Fontaine, and a very special surprise guest.

We also remind you that there will be a silent auction and the ever effervescent Sinistra Lowe in attendance, promoting her latest work, Magic Thieves: I Didn't Do It, But If I Had Here's How. As if this was not more than enough, the Great Humberto has promised to grace us with his presence. There are still a few tickets available, so we would simply love to have you among us to welcome our visitors from abroad and ensure that their stay here is a memorable one conducive to strengthening international ties between our community.

Finally, we shall leave you with a preview of one of the many creations that our wonderful head chef has been working on for the night:

Do you feel the above was saccharine enough?

[Thea, Val can read]
Furthermore, I have it on good authority that at least one of our international visitors is rather pleasing to the eye ;)

Nothing like an up close and personal encounter with a Dementor to really wake you up in the morning.

[Lumos Boot]

Are you still interested in the random acts of kindness idea I approached you about before? I was thinking that the former Aurors who used to work under Mr. Robards could benefit from it.

So...Sunday's dinner. We should talk about things before our parents make all the decisions for us.

Muggles are launching cars into space now? I hope this doesn't interfere with my star charts.

Just a reminder that my latest art show is opening at O'Sullivan's next Friday (the 16th!). I would love it if you all attended! Come say hi!

[AVERYS]
It has been a very dramatic day!

Did you know that Pilliwinkle's Playthings is having a sale on chess sets? They had some really nice ones, too!

Angelina, Rolf? Here's your chance. On Wednesday, Benefactors of Traditional Cultural Heritage Valentine's Day Gala (I feel dirty just writing it) will likely hold the attention of most every Purist in our circle. I think it's a good opportunity to let those horses go free.

We can scramble distractions for you at the event so that in the lead up before you hit the wards, we can have them distracted and give you the time to get in and get out before the Lestranges know better. No one should be anywhere long. Light and quick, yes?
