( I found a tidal wave begging to tear down the dawn. )

( She had no other choice but to do what she always did when she needed some cash. )

Who: Brendan, featuring Ronnie (NPC).
Where: The Court; Brendan's apartment.
When: Mid-morning.

( Brendan had seen the face before, in flashes, in the other nightmares, swimming out of the chaos of the other terrible dreams he had experienced. It was a face he wasn't likely to forgot, not after this. )

Who: Brendan and Fable.
Where: Brendan's apartment.
When: Late afternoon.

( The longer this went on, the less sense it made, the more frightening and overwhelming it became. Brendan had worked himself up into such a state by late afternoon, time creeping steadily towards evening, that he was afraid to touch anything. There was no telling what might happen after all, and he had already done enough damage as it was. )

Who: Brendan, Ronnie Ducaine (NPC), and some NPC home-owner.
Where: A random Scarlet Oak backyard.
When: Afternoon.

( At first he didn’t realise anything was really wrong, at least not until he felt something, something he didn’t recognise, something inside himself almost, and then he saw the small spark of light where there really shouldn’t have been one. Right in front of his eyes, the flowers he had been working on neatening caught fire. )

Who: Brendan and Lizzy.
Where: The library.
When: Early afternoon.

( For a while he wandered, not really sure what in particular he was looking for, but trusting that he would know it when he saw it. )

Who: Brendan.
Where: His apartment.
When: Late night.

( In the end, what it really came down to was how far he was prepared to go. How badly he needed those questions answered. That one question. Ultimately that was the only one that mattered, the only one to which he desperately needed the answer. It wasn’t about want, not really. Brendan doubted he would sleep better or feel safer if he knew how exactly his parents had died. No. It had always been about need. )

( Those who had come in alone and managed to grab a table were being asked to share, and Brendan was fully prepared to do the same soon enough. It didn't faze him in the least. )
