like a wolf in the night
WHO | Brendan and Lida
WHERE | Woods not far from her house
WHEN | Evening
The night had yet to really set in, but while the sky was transitioning from deeper reds and oranges to purples, Lida was just leaving the house. Annabelle was staying with a friend -- again. The girl had yet to look at her adoptive mother with anything that wasn't the least little bit reproachful. Knowing that her daughter considered her anything less than perfect made Lida's skin completely crawl; it was so reminiscent of the tragedies she had experienced with her other children that she began to legitimately fear for Annabelle's wellbeing. Toby, on the other hand, was warming up to her quite nicely once more. Perhaps it was naivety or just the desire to believe that his new mother would not let any harm ever come to him, but whatever the reason the adoration had returned to his eyes. Which was why Lida was not straying terribly far from the house tonight. Though she was out of sight and could no longer see her home, she could still hear Toby's voice in the background.
With his voice still playing in her ears, she decided to wander around the outskirts of her property. Her garden wasn't far away and she could still detect lingering wisps of Belinda's scent. The elemental had been a welcome surprise indeed. Not only was she someone who practically had Earth's values rolling off of her, there was nothing but admiration in her eyes when she looked upon Lida. This was such a welcome sight, especially when her own daughter could not regard her that way. In fact, Belinda's pleasant nature had driven her to the forefront of Lida's mind. She wanted to see the elemental again, and soon. Perhaps she would follow Belinda's trail and find out exactly where the young woman lived. How good of her would it be to visit her new friend?
Lida would not be a very good vampire if it took her very long to realize that she was no longer alone in the woods. Her ears told her it was only one person, but her nose gave her much more reliable information. It was a man and Earth was definitely there in his scent. She stopped and waited, lingering next to a tree to see whoever it was would make an appearance.
