[Nico arrives at the entrance of Sector 6 early. He'd been up even earlier, getting everything ready. He has a bag with food, water, first aid, and whatever he could scrape together for weapons. He hopes the others packed their own supplies. What he has won't last long if they get stuck in there for more than a day.

He has a vague idea which direction they need to go. He was up most of the night reviewing the flora and fauna and inmates in the sector. He brings up the map and studies it while he waits.]

Day 297 - morning (backdated) / Action / Closed to Ianto

Jack has not had a good night’s sleep. He awoke yesterday to the relentless wail of sirens and pitch blackness, and Ianto nowhere to be found because he’d already gone out, and – well. He kept it together for the first part of the day, because there was an emergency and he just automatically did what he always does in an emergency, which is patrol and try and keep people calm and safe. It was only when it eventually became apparent that a lot of people weren’t around (apparently because they’d walked through previously – and subsequently – locked doors) that he started to panic, because Ianto was one of them. Ianto had disappeared, and that was the one thing he’d been trying to brace himself for but apparently, however prepared he tried to be for such an eventuality, the reality of it was just more than he could handle.

He spent the rest of the day searching the facility inch by inch, calling out for Ianto in an increasingly cracked voice, until eventually he ran out of places to search, and the physical and mental exhaustion of searching through the darkness got the better of him. Reluctantly, he gave in and went home, collapsing into bed in the small hours and dozing fitfully, rousing every now and again to the unfamiliar emptiness in the bed beside him.

Until the morning, when, finally, it’s the warmth of a body in his bed and the soft sound of Ianto snoring that wakes him. He just gazes at Ianto for a long moment, and then with a sob he’s gathering Ianto into his arms, pulling him close, heedless of the fact that Ianto was sleeping peacefully and will undoubtedly be jolted awake. He just needs to feel Ianto in his arms, safe and solid and real.
