[Day 185][Emergency Notice - Sector 6 Breach]

Attention, criminals. [Veridical is using her non nonsense voice as it booms over the loud speakers on the floating island as well as plays over the network.]

Proceed to Sector 1: Main Athletic Complex, Sector 2: The Education Center, Sector 3: Pa-Ching Arcade, Sector 4: The Movie Theater, or Sector 5: The Museum. If you're currently in Sector 0, you should get to one of the other locations quickly and efficiently. These locations will be on lock down for your safety. [Which means you can get in, but you will not be able to get out until lockdown is lifted. Not that Veridical mentioned that part.]

Inmates from Sector 6 have breeched the barrier. You will not be able to communicate with these inmates the way you can with each other, but they are just as sentient and just as guilty as you are.

We will handle their return. If you engage them
[on purpose or not] and things go badly you will be subject to penalties for assault, injury, or murder. Since you are getting this additional warning, breaking these rules will come with additional penalties. [So many details left out! You'll just have to imagine those additional penalties, but as it turns out it's a roll of the wheel and -500 rehabilitation points which depending on how new or good or bad you've been could be anything from a significant hit to a negative hole that will take a good long while to crawl out of.]

(OOC: More information here. Questions here. Lockdown will lift as the new day begins and all the sector 6 creatures are safely tucked away. Veridical will not be responding to network chatter, but players are welcome to post reactions and to threadjack at each other here. Mingle for all your action needs!)

Defense Force assemble! [It sounded so commanding and yet now the leader of said force has broken into giggles. Yes, giggles.]

You guys, [more giggling] they're like giant fuzzy wasps. I swear they're laughing too. It's weirdest thing. Probably not the weirdest. I've seen weird things. This one time I was supposed to take out the leader of genetic experimentation plant and he had three heads and none of them had eyes. He totally saw me though. I don't know how.

What was I talking about? Oh! Right, they, um, they can sting. Don't get stung. [More giggling.] Oh! [Wait for it.]

...

...

No, I forgot. I think I'm just going to lay down. Here.

(OOC: Kitty is in Sector two. I'd like her to eventually reach the educational facility lock down, but for now she's outside it and there could still be hyena wasps around.)

[Midway through the morning, prior to the breach of Sector 6, the bots finally came for Homura, interrupting her in the course of surveying parts of the dome. It's been a few days now since her punishment was assigned to her, but apparently she can't just ignore that punishment forever. Naturally if they are computers, then they probably won't ever.

Even if she could fight or run, there's no use fighting it. As far as punishments go, it's a slap on the wrist. After all, it's just a guest lecture.

She's made no attempts at advertising it, so whoever happens to walk into the classroom is fine. Who would be interested in a lecture delivered by a second year middle school student? Not that it matters. She'd speak even if no one shows up and it had better still count. There were no requirements mentioned.

Not long after being escorted to an open classroom by the sentinels, she begins speaking. The lecture is short and to the point, with no attempts to make it interesting. There are no slides, no notes in her hand, but rather just information called up from memories of an old school report on the spot.]

The Iriomote Mountain Cat is a small wild cat living on the island of Iriomote in Okinawa Prefecture of Japan. [She doesn't bother with saying the planet name.]

Although belonging to the widespread Leopard Cat species, Iriomote cats exist only on one island, the smallest habitat for any known species of wild cat. Due to habitat destruction, fewer than one hundred remain in the wild, making it a critically endangered species. They are protected as Specified National Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora by the national government and are designated a natural monument of Okinawa.

[She continues on for a short while, covering some of the causes of the population decrease and so on. It's not a deep lecture, but she wasn't required to make it deep. This should suffice.]

Any questions?

[Rion's just finished up one of his last appointments for detox. there's still headaches and some headfogginess, but a lot of the feverishness and aches have gone away. so hurrah, progress. but Rion can't say he's exactly feeling good about the whole thing. not that detoxing is bad—he's glad to be cleansing himself as best he can, but that isn't helping his many other underlying issues.

even with many of the drugs out of his system, his footfall still feels heavy, resonating a hollowness inside himself with every step.

he opens the door to his house, and drags his feet inside. he pauses, lifting his head. he left the lights off when he left, but they're on.

cautious, Rion proceeds, thankfully lifted from his funk with the distraction of paranoia.]
