Saint Dymphna hear our prayer

Who: Helena, Lily, Rico, Niamh, Max, Charlotte
When: LOLCUTE
Where: Nowhere good

Something had been thrown at the back of Charlotte's head as they'd entered the last saferoom. She remembered feeling dazed and staggering across the threshold, and someone slamming the door behind her. She'd then stumbled over to something and collapsed without ceremony. She needed a few minutes, just a few minutes, to remember how to breathe and to convince the contents of her stomach they were going to stay in her stomach. When she next opened her eyes, the light in the room was different.

I'm in a... Charlotte blinked as she took in her surroundings, realizing that she had collapsed on a pew and was staring at the gold-plated prayer to St. Dymphna. She was still clutching both the map and one of their retrieved items to her chest. Gingerly, she sat up, and once she was absolutely certain she wasn't going to vomit, she checked the time. They had a half hour of sanctuary left. She looked around the room guiltily, hating herself for falling asleep or passing out or whatever it was that she had done. God knew her injuries weren't the worst. "Guys," she murmured, feeling incapable of using anything more than a soft tone in this place, "It's time to start figuring out a game plan."

Quoth the Raven(s): Caw Caw Motherfuckers

Who: Odin, Orion, Cels and the twins' brand new familiars!
Where: The D'Ambray house - the living room
When: Morning

Picture this: Three angels, all majestic and wondrous, the very model of celestial light...completely off their rocker in various ways. An angel who cannot touch anyone or anything without being assaulted by several degrees of horrible visions, another who couldn't very well open his eyes at the moment - for when he did, he saw things as if they all had the same color patterns as a peacock mantis shrimp, only with more neon - and finally a telepath who had gone completely and totally deaf. Communication in the D'Ambray household had never been so difficult - not even when there had been teenagers in the mix. As it stood, Odin couldn't speak to Cels because he couldn't pick up a pen and write, and neither could Orion because he could probably not see the pad, or the pen, or the letters. And she couldn't hear but oh, she could speak - loudly. It was just a shame neither one of them could answer her properly. Odin had taken to making faces and gesturing to his sister in response, and Orion had started using Odin as an interface. It was now very common for Orion to tell Odin to gesture something to Cels.

and there's no air or sound down below the surface.

Who: Trent and Melia.
Where: The lake.
When: Late morning.

It wasn’t exactly ideal weather for hanging out by the lake but Trent hadn’t come here to enjoy himself. Even with the chill and damp in the air he had come here to think, to get away from it all, take time and be by himself. As much as he loved his family, as much as he loved Venus, there were times when he couldn’t be around anyone and this was one of those times. Distance was what he needed, quiet and space. The lake was the perfect place for that.

So here he was, his feet wet after he had pulled his boots and socks off in order to perch himself on a low rock and let his lower legs dangle in the water. The legs of his jeans had been rolled up but as he watched the water ripple with the breeze he let out a sigh. This wasn’t helping. Kyle and Lotti were still trapped inside the school, they still had no idea what was going on, Venus was still essentially blind. Frustration gnawed at the edges of his concentration with sharp teeth and as he raked his hands through his hair he realised this wasn’t going to work. Something about just sitting there was keeping him from clearing his mind, even with the crisp fresh air and the quiet natural sounds of the wildlife and flora all around him.

Trent shrugged out of his jacket. Reaching up he tugged his t-shirt off over his head. The cool air bit at his skin and immediately he felt a little better. Briefly he felt the familiar rush inside that he had long ago come to associate with a change and he had to quell that, quiet and subdue it, putting it to bed so that he could retain his human form. The wolf side of him was thrown, confused and disappointed, but maybe he would shift and run for a while after he was done. That would help. That always helped.

When he was done his clothes were folded on top of the rock upon which he had been perched, his jacket draped safely over the top just in case the threat in the air followed through and rain started to fall while he was in the water. The lake was like ice around him as he went in, it stole his breath momentarily and for a human there would have been a very real danger of catching something, a bone-deep chill at the very least. Not a werewolf. They were hardier than that.

The real shock came when he waded out deep enough that he could dunk himself under the water completely. Walking in the water had been shocking enough but this was something else entirely, almost painful but in an exhilarating and refreshing way that he was immediately grateful for and appreciative of. When he breached the water again he took in a deep lungful of air and felt lighter for it. Some of those troubles that been weighing on him up on shore had been lifted. It didn’t matter to Trent that they would return soon, all that mattered was that he was able to escape them, if only for a little while.

it's what you all deserve

Who: Amanda, Cameron and OPEN
When: Early afternoon
Where: Outside of SOHS

He had waited.

Cameron had given this little dome disaster at the high school days without making any official statement. Things like that he'd left to his father and the others. They thought he might be afraid or losing his backbone, but that wasn't it at all. No, Cameron had given them time because he didn't want to seem hasty. The last thing he needed to do was step up and say something only to have the barrier fall, the children tumble out unscathed and everyone look at him as though he was insane. No, he'd save that for the zealots who jumped on everything the second it happened instead of giving it time to boil and set. Now the people had seen that it was a problem and it wasn't going to just stop. This had happened because of the supernaturals. If a barrier that kept everyone out wasn't supernatural in origin... he'd be damned by one of those demons they kept screaming about.

"You know why it's happening!" Cameron had to raise his voice to be heard over the general din of voices from the crowd. One of his aides had gotten him a makeshift stand and he was up on it, the notes that had been written forgotten in front of him. Just looking at the school put a sick feeling in his stomach. How could they stand it? All of that magic. It was disgusting, it truly was, and he reached out to take Amanda's hand to reassure himself. That the magic wouldn't touch him. "It's because of them, these supernaturals who flaunt themselves and bring more and more of their magic into the world. What did they do not that long ago? Opened barriers that existed for a reason and released horrors that we still don't know the extent of. Horrors that likely-" He flung his other hand out and pointed to the school. "-caused that to happen to your children! Why do we still embrace them and turn to them for help when clearly they can do nothing? Letting them run free..." He shook his head, a rueful smile on his face. "Has it done any good for us?"

it's just like old times... only no one's crying

Who: Arwen, open to any and all of the Kavanagh/Gia/Nysa crew
When: Morning
Where: Arwen's house

Arwen had taken no objections with Desi throwing an impromptu slumber party at her house. God knew her home was big enough, and even with her mother staying there she still had guest bedrooms and couches to share. Arwen wasn't entirely sure who all had elected to stay the night - having just gotten off of a twelve-hour shift she'd been among the first to turn in and give in to sleep. She woke early in the morning, and felt oddly at peace with the world. She liked having a full house.

After showering and pulling on a long, soft baby blue robe, she headed downstairs. She had always been an early riser, but she put the tea on, and debated whether or not to cook breakfast. She decided against it. Desi had been hitting the booze, and she didn't want to wake anyone up before they were ready. Instead, Arwen wrapped herself in a blanket and took her tea outside. She had a covered deck facing the river, and a light rain was just starting to fall. She sighed as she let herself sink into one of the lounge chairs, both hands hugging her mug of tea. She could not remember the last time she felt so... calm. It was nice.

the ice is thinning out and my feet brace themselves

Who: Star and Venus (and Venus' familiar, Raphaela)
When: Morning
Where: Venus' apartment

Venus' situation had not improved in the days and hours since she'd tried to scry into the dome, but she was finding ways of living around it. Leaving the apartment was, unfortunately, out of the question, but she could still stay here on her own without dying of dehydration or burning the house down. The blindfold had to stay on, that was a given, and even then when she stood she felt weak and disoriented. The great thing about the situation, the only silver lining, was Raphaela. In this situation, having a familiar was a godsend. The wolf could project images in Venus' mind and help her navigate around the apartment and do things for herself, provided she went very, very slowly. This morning she'd even managed to make herself a cup of tea, and was celebrating that by stretching out on the couch and waiting for her stomach to stop jumping around from the movement.

"This has to go away," she moaned, speaking only to herself. "I can't live like this forever." She dozed a little then, and it was Raphaela's voice in her head that brought her round again.

"That faerie is near," she said. "I think she's coming to see you."

Venus found she had no feeling about Star coming to visit whatsoever. Fine, great. It wasn't like the day could get any weirder. "I left the door unlocked," she mumbled, shifting slightly so her head was at least facing the door. "Don't tell Trent. Just tell her to come in when she knocks." If she knocked.

TIME UPDATE

DATE: Saturday, October 3, 2009

BIRTHDAYS: Kajsa (happy friggin birthday)

WEATHER: Cold and damp, with occasional light showers on and off through-out the day.

EVENTS: Tomorrow is the night of the full moon, there's still no progress to be seen at breaching the barrier, and known weres are inside. With that in mind, it's a little unsurprising that those in charge are getting a little desperate. They've cleared off the entire north side of the property, and no one without a military uniform is allowed within fifty feet of their set boundaries. Today they're trying a various range of explosives - some magicked, some not - to break in.

Spoiler alert: WON'T WORK, BITCHES.

But again you may ask, what about those inside the school? It's already been established (though unknown to them) that time functions at a different pace in each world. Well, two groups are advancing today. Details behind the cut. )
