[Helen had realized recently her need for a reliable babysitter. However, she had yet to hire one. And she thought it best if Alice wasn't there when Varric and Nikola met one another for the first time. She couldn't predict what would be said, and the girl hardly needed more confusion or upset in her life. Picking up the phone, she called the only person she could think to ask.]

>> At the courthouse, but I didn't want to forget to ask you about this.
>> I have a friend, just passed the BAR in California, looking for a job.
>> Would you meet with him if I set up an interview?

[Text to Lulu]
>> Come home early tonight.
>> I have something for you.

[Text to Helen Magnus]
>> You were in my dream last night.

She still wasn't entirely certain she wanted to call him, but a part of her needed this. Taking a calming breath, she dialed his number and waited for him to answer.

>> Got some time off work still so am catching up
>> How are you? How is Alice?

>> Come home.
>> Please.

[Then after a bit of a delay.]

>> Nikola is getting married.

>> I've asked Lulu to marry me.

Damn. That made it much, much weirder. Defeated, Sam shoves his phone in his desk drawer and tries to feel less stupid.

I heard you were feeling better.

Helen, it's Nikola. I know we haven't spoken since... well, that's not the point. The point is that you played a starring role in my dream last night, and I'm a little confused about it. I was hoping we could chat. Give me a call back when you have a moment, would you?

She had wanted to wait, give herself time to adjust to the change in her relationship, but it was beginning to feel like she was hiding it from them. That was a thought that didn’t settle well.

When she picks up the phone, it’s with nervous energy, and she takes a calming breath before dialing Ashley’s number.

Is there any chance I could convince you to join me for tea?

[Along with a simple handwritten note, he'll find the finished sketch, placed carefully into an envelope with a section of cardboard to discourage bending. It's neatly addressed in Helen's writing.]
