[ The audio clicks on, but there's silence for several seconds before a voice can be heard. ]

Is this thing even on? Fuckin' confusing.

[ His voice is quiet and annoyed, basically a mutter. ]

Prison, huh? Can't say I'm surprised. It was only a matter of time before I got locked up for being too cool to logically exist.

[ This time there's a faint, desperate note to his voice, not obvious to any but the most astute listener, or those who know Dave well. It's well-masked with blasé tones. ]

Shit, my sweet red pajamas are gone, too. And I just got them an' everything. Now that's the real fuckin' crime, if you ask me.

[ A sigh. ]

Anyway, what's the deal with this place? I got the whole spiel from this weird-ass visor thing on my head, but I don't trust it. There's gotta be somebody out there who can give me a more honest picture of the undoubtedly egregious mess I've landed myself in.

Come at me, prison bros.

[ action ]

Today there is a scene laid out in the amphitheater.

The wall has been defaced with red chalk: his Honorable Tyranny is drawn there. The stage has been drawn on as well: an aisle is outlined and angled, messy drawing of benches are placed on either side. A number of stools have been placed by the judge of this courtblock and on each stool and each drawing of a bench there are hastily sewn dragon dolls.

Terezi and her scalemates are playing a game.

TL;DR )

[ video ]

[ Terezi is in a tree. It is very high up. She is sure to point the camera down: showing everyone just how high. The camera turns to focus on her hands, in which a purple dragon toy is clutched. Around its neck is a noose. She laughs. ]

Today, you-- yes, you!-- are witness to the formalized execution of a Mr Raisincloak. His crimes are severe-- possession and trafficking of a highly potent, highly illegal drug-- and so his punishment will be just. With no further ado, I present to everyone: Marina Nova's very first necktie party.

[ She tosses the toy off of the branch and lets it hang. The camera follows the motion and clicks off after a good, long moment of it swinging around. The picture is set to Terezi's laughter. ]

[It's becoming more and more obvious that this shithole has it out for her.]

[Here she is, minding her own business and (mostly) not even doing anything questionable! It's not like there's any rules against looking for info on building doomsday devices or trying to collect materials for them, and no one could be mad at her for going to the arcade, getting food, or anything else. Yet she keeps getting stuck inside, and it's really getting annoying.]

[Just her shitty luck.]

(ooc: feel free to have your character trapped with vriska at any time and basically anywhere that would make sense why would you inflict that on them)

Wow. I guess I can't take my eyes off of you losers at all! So many things I've missed. But there's mostly one thing I'm concerned about, and the wardens aren't exactly being helpful right now.

Who tried to steal my kill.

(Not that I don't think I already know the answer!)

Just so no one else misunderstands, I'm going to kill Jack Noir. Me. And I've got no intention of letting anyone else do it.

And for the record, the wardens can try to make me do their stupid punishment all they want, but I'm not going to. It's not like I even did anything wrong!

[Hey look, it's Caroline. But instead of being surrounded by clothes or plans or anything else, she's in her kitchen, baking. Behind her are three casseroles, just sitting there, waiting to be eaten. And Caroline looks bored. Dead bored. She's talking to you Marina Novaians.]

I'm so freakin' bored. [She's already thrown a party, she can't do another one so soon. It's just Party Etiquette and Planning 101. She runs her finger along a spatula before she tastes it.] I need something to do. [Idle hands and all. And being out of her element? She can't figure out what to do.] Tell me guys, what do you guys do around here to keep busy?

[ he's looking a bit worse for the wear.

it's been four days, and he's been stockpiling spice -- ingesting only the smallest amount he can get away with in order to build up a cache in his apartment, but that is starting to take its toll on him. at the moment, he is stretched out on his back in bed with the lights off and the blinds closed, though some daylight still filters in. in this lighting, his eyes look even more like holes than usual, shadowed and nearly-black.
]

How dull this place is!

[ it's not that he misses giedi prime, particularly -- not having to deal with the baron or his nephews has actually done quite a lot for his temperament -- but the fact that he no longer has limitless doses of spice at his disposal is getting to him. not having anything to kill, as well -- but that fight the other day... he can't help but smirk at the memory. a trained eye might notice fading bruises on his neck and face from that particular spectacle. languidly, sleepily, he turns onto his side. ]

Between the thinking machines and you all, my fellow inmates, I'm afraid I find myself rather unimpressed. [ he sits up, stretches. ] I'd expected more violence from a prison. This is really more of a third-rate pleasure resort, though with tragically limited amenities -- and equally tragic company. [ he shrugs as he stands and leaves the bedroom, crossing through the rest of his darkened apartment and opening the door. ]

Are any of you familiar with administering poison? There are so very many ways to go about it. I, myself, prefer subtlety: fast-acting and long-lasting, yet symptomless -- but that isn't to say that I don't appreciate a dash of poison on a blade now and then to boil the blood... Ah, but I digress.

[ he steps out into the hall, chuckling as he closes the door securely. he's on his way to the hospital, and perhaps to roam about the sectors looking for materials that he might be able to fashion a weapon with, or perhaps a few chemicals to keep around the apartment for delicious deadly cocktail mixing. be my guest and run into him anywhere -- in sector 2, 5, or even right here outside his door, if any neighbors happen to stroll by. ]

[ Terezi's voice is very serious. ]

Dearest inmates of the underwater prison-resort known as Marina Nova!

It has recently come to my attention that no one has done a formal investigation of the dome. As a legislacerator, this is something that I simply cannot allow to pass. If you think I am suggesting a full blown investigation, you just might be onto something.

In particular I would like to highlight the forbidden sector. The possibilities for what is inside are endless.

[ And now you can hear her grin. ]

It could be some poor child's lusus locked up all alone, a ticking time bomb, a fantastic wonderland made of candy! Who the fuck knows. It is extremely important that we find this extremely important fact out.

I will be leading and directing the investigation. If you would like to join in, show up at sector 0, by the request kiosk. I'm a troll, something different than most of you squishy humans, so I should stick out.

[ ooc: Action thread for investigation (if anyone is interested) is right here! ]

[His frequency remains on even after his call and either he doesn't seem to notice or just doesn't care. He's not really thinking about the fact people can and will hear him. They didn’t listen to him when he talked to himself back home after all. To be perfectly honest he’s not really expecting anyone to answer him either. It’s been awhile since he just spoke his thoughts out loud, sometimes he just can't care enough to keep it all inside or to worry about who hears him. In the distance you can hear the clock tower chiming from wherever he is. You get the impression that it’s somewhere high.]

This place is frustrating… but I can’t sleep no matter where I go. These thoughts keep racing in my head, keeping me awake at night.

[Someone tried to stay in sector 5 away from the more populated areas as a way to protect people from himself as well as to have privacy. Some may have seen him trying to sleep on a pew in the nondenominational prayer facility or at least hanging around there. Needless to say what stuff he had started to gather was now gone.]

[ Terezi has no clue where she is. Gamzee lead her around and around and supposedly to somewhere safe-- and now he's gone to find them both some sort of food, by her own request. She doesn't like trusting him as much as she is right now. But she trusts him all the same, because there is little else she can do.

The room she's inside smells very indistinct. There is nothing to define it or give her an idea of where she is; but tapping the anklet against the wall makes an echo, so she assumes it's fairly empty. She doesn't like that. The air is cool, not enough to chill her given Alternia's usual temperatures but enough to make her wonder why. So she just sits on the ground with her back against a wall and draws her knees to her chest.

Little does she know, she's in the air conditioned amphitheater. ]

HEY. Wait a minute, that's it?

[ Someone's just read his welcome message and... no. Oh, no, this will not do. He's indignant - the sort of indignance he'd normally save for a snooty maitre d'. ]

You can't just pick a man up from his life and dump in a prison, no questions asked, no trial, no due process. I've got freedom, protections - inalienable rights, you can't just ignore those! And these charges of yours are on very shaky ground, for the record. Honestly, jaywalking?

[ Far from his only offense, but come on. That one's just absurd. He falls quiet for a moment as he sullenly glances around at the environment. When he speaks again, he's more quietly sulky. ]

Not to mention the headgear. Who does your design, Ridley Scott?

[ The voice on the other end is very young. ]

Very very efficient. The instant I actually murdered someone, I've found myself here. I can only applaud the urgency of your system! It's satisfying to see the strict hand of justice reach between universes and pluck little criminals out of their places with such a cool indifference. I can't say I'm happy to be here-- I hoped to one day join your kind, and enforce the justice I love so much as a legislacerator. But I also can't say I don't deserve it.

However, something I do deserve is a trial. Your efficiency has no formality to it! That is terrible. You've completely skipped the best part.

[ She laughs, loud and sharp and long. Her tone is as playful as before, even more so. ]

Why, you should have relished taking me down in court. The guilty will crack under an even pressure and this is true of all criminals. No one is exempt! You should have slowly peeled away all layers of my defence and elicited the confession from my reluctant mouth. Your professionalism would inspire such a hate in me, a deep loathing and resentment that I have never felt before, and you would be unmoved. You might hate me back a little, because I am a criminal-- but nothing more. Such is the tragedy of a courtroom!

But instead of that-- [ her tone hits a low note now, suddenly and quickly ] -- you've just done this.

And that is such a fucking shame.

Okay. I don't know who's responsible for this.

But whoever it is? Haha. Very funny. Hilarious!

Nothing I've done is even that bad. [...except maybe one thing, but that was still justifiable! And as if she's going to admit to feeling like shit about it openly.] Maybe by bullshit human standards, I guess, but not by my race's!

...Unless this is Terezi's doing somehow? Okaaaaaaaay. Joke's over, Pyrope! Cut the stupid mind tricks or whatever and let's finish this! I've got way more important things to be doing.
