Okay, so I got my notebook. It's the one I had at home, which brings up a few questions, but that's not what this is for, not completely. Reid, you said you wanted to look at some of my research? Oh! Touma Hashiba. When would be a good time to meet to discuss your notes?

[she pauses for a moment, then hurries on, as if something just occurred to her]

Oh! Question. Anyone have tips on living with others of the opposite gender? I've managed to land myself in a frat house, with all the connotations thereof. Back home I only had Darcy, and she was a very good roommate.

Calling all Scoobies--yes that includes you, Angel, Cordy and [said rather reluctantly] Faith. I think it's been a while since we've had a...you know and this place kind of warrants it. Plus, new people. So, I'm going to get some pizza. Xander, you bring the snacks and we can meet at my apartment? Top floor of Clocktower Estates 417.

[When the scoobies arrive, Buffy will indeed have plenty of pizza. She's set it on the coffee table. The living room at least is mostly furnished by Mahr Ikea. There's a couch, a chair, some barstools along the bar and some giant pillows that can be used to sit on. She's got some stakes that are really just chair legs broken off to give them a sharp, jagged edge sitting next to the couch. She knows they're not supposed to have weapons here. She thinks it's better that she has them just in case then having to make something up when needed. The remains of the broken chair are in the fireplace waiting to be burned when it gets cool enough. The door is unlocked since she's expecting people.

She's honestly not sure what they're going to talk about. She doesn't have anything in mind other than clearing the air about patrol things and defense force things. She just thinks this place needs a scoobie meeting. Or maybe it's just her that needs one.]

[Derek is standing outside the apartments where Penelope has claimed a place for herself. Yes, he still refuses to settle in and get his own place… for now. But the sound of rain tapping the window made him step outside to check it out. They’re under water after all, and Derek’s first thought is that there’s a leak.

The feed comes on, Derek looking a little uncomfortable with the rain coming down around him.] We’re in a fish bowl underwater and it’s leaking… or raining. I’m gonna go with raining. [Just before the feed cuts off, Derek draws a deep breath, closes his eyes and tilts his face up into it. If it’s rain and not a leak, it really isn’t so bad.]

[ faith does not exactly get excited about being openly and actively social. call it introversion, antisocial behavior, or just plain ignorance; she's pretty sure she just wasn't built to make buddies.

however, the move to the new place has dictated that she feels the need to reconnect. maybe treating the place as a bad practical joke wasn't the way to go. plus, she's pretty sure she screwed up enough to deserve the reality of the situation. angel had volunteered her for this defense force thing (had it been anyone else, faith would have promptly said 'screw that' and stalked off and away) and she'd found out that xander hadn't gotten involved. just seemed...weird to her.

so here she is, trying not to sound and look too awkward. she's found that acting fairly indifferent helps with that. a little. ]

[ inspecting the new digs has kept her mind off of the scarier, beat-uppier thoughts in her head, and even though she'd barely been in the other facility long enough to know when something looks weird, faith will take what she can get. a shark in water, she's going to just keep moving and hope that it helps her survive.

she's ventured into sector 2, in which she looks largely uncomfortable and makes quick plans to head out to sector 1 for some calorie-burning afterward. the education center, library, and computer lab are all her primary targets -- and she hopes desperately that no one sees her there. she's not a brain, but she's tired of just sitting around, and she's not really the type to ask for help on what the real skinny on the prison is.

so whether she's found scowling at an unhelpful book, snoozing at a study table, pecking at a keyboard with her pointer fingers, or back at the athletic center to burn off some frustration, she's around and ripe for the bothering! ]

[Yesterday, Kitty set up team captains who set up teams to explore the various sectors of their new prison home. It's a time for research and possibly dealing with threats. Maybe even encountering confused new arrivals. Not to mention team togetherness since sometimes it was hard to get to know your fellow defense force members. Not to mention not all these people were once members.]

(OOC: I say Day 175, but if you want to use this for Day 174 or even 176 I won't tell the temporal police. There are headers for each team. Use them or not as you see fit! ANYONE is welcome to try to encounter DF members to ask questions, pick fights, or try to arrange slumber parties. Whatever you're into.

So. [A handsome man in a precise goatee appears on the video, perfectly calm -- and in fact, quite bored -- munching on some kind of crunchy snack as he speaks. He's in the basement of one of the larger buildings, pieces of electronics strewn about around him.] This sucks.

[He'd have to make do with what he could pilfer from the computer lab and so-called "electronics" store, slim pickings though they are. It's a damn good thing he's Tony Stark, or he'd be in real trouble.]

[He digs for more of whatever he’s eating -- salted cashews, as it turns out -- his bag crumpling loudly in the mic.] Did anyone else notice the lack of 7-11 around here? If we’re going to be locked up for eternity I’m definitely going to need a Slurpee. Not that the prison bowling alley isn’t a nice touch.

[ cordelia had been expecting white fluffy clouds ... or at least a mall again. which means one thing: skip. she fiddles with the device, switching it from audio to video with a few misguided clicks, and her face, pinched, annoyed, not very impressed, can be seen. if she moves a little, you can see she's in sector 1. cordelia's been hoping to work on her tan with a nice lie in the sun, but not like this, of course. ]

Skip? Honey? Honestly. Can we please stop with the hijacking—I’ve had enough of it for a lifetime, thanks—and get back to the ascending into heaven kind of thing? There’s nothing you can do for me now. I’m at peace with that.

Okay, not Skip. [ which is just ... great. it shows on her face. she’d been hoping for a friendly face, at least. her entire demeanor changes; from friendly to angry and rather detached, as does her voice, moving from soft and sad to annoyed and clipped. ] Look, dumbass, I’m kind of out of the business of being kidnapped and people actually coming to my rescue, so how about you let this not-a-damsel go before I do some permanent damage to your brain?

[ her life sucks, okay? she's had enough of being thrown around like a toy. give her a moment before she glances down. she looks back up, face scrunching up disapprovingly. she sighs. she can't even die in style, it seems. as an afterthought: ]

By now we all know the situation. [For a girl who does a lot of network trolling, she can sound all business sometimes. This is one of those times.]

Suzaku is gone. We have no powers for the rest of the day. We have no warden-provided weapons or intel for the foreseeable future. So, we need to make our own. I think we need to split into smaller teams—one to each sector.

I made a list of team leaders from the people who responded to Lacus. You don't like your assignment, you can take it up with me or take a walk. It's temporary. Spend a couple of hours today and then hit it again tomorrow until we've got some idea of what we're working with. I know you need some time to find your things and secure your own housing. Now, team leaders...

Team leaders, choose your team. No fewer than three of you. Your mission is to survey the sector you're assigned. See how it matches up to the maps we were provided. Record and report any anomalies. Get an idea of the number of bots and sentinels in each sector and their movements. Don't engage. Look out for any potential threats. If you come across other inmates who need help then help them. The frequency we have now is a secure one. Use it to check in with dispatch to let them know who will be on your team and then report back every half hour with your whereabouts and any news.

Dispatch is working with Lacus in the educational facility for now. Sakura, you're with them. [Because she's not okay with you being in the field.] Anyone not on a team or with dispatch will be on call in case an emergency.

Gino, I suggest you find someone for your team who can fly or teleport when these monitors come off. We need to know about that island too.

[ he didn't have any belongings, wasn't terribly attached to the place he was staying, doesn't care about the orange jumpsuit beyond how incredibly pale he must look in contrast to the bright saturation, but he's so incredibly done with being picked up and tossed into one world from another. warning and explanation or not, not cool. ]

Y'know, I used to take people apart to see how they worked. Literally. Next robot I see's getting that same treatment.

Orange jumpsuits? Can't you guys be a bit more creative? I mean, I realize that orange is pretty demoralizing but what about blue? Or the classic with black and white stripes?

Maybe you want to find the nearest clothing store and upgrade from prisoner-chic to something a little more you. Maybe you appeared somewhere awkward and could use a hand with that. It could be you're just wandering around, familiarizing yourself with the new space.
