taste the fucking rainbow

Who: Livia, Seer, and whoever else happens to be around to witness a rainbow puking vampire.
When: Late afternoon
Where: Heme

Today Heme was looking precisely the way the average person probably expected a vampire bar to look while the sun was still up: dead. Oh sure, a few people of various stages of life and death with nothing better to do were around, but for the majority of her shift Saoirse had simply been leaning against the bar and watching the constant news coverage. She didn't know a single person on the inside, but she still disliked the entire situation - and disliked standing around doing nothing to help out just as much. Seriously, what was the point of being a vampire when all your super strength and powers were for crap? In the bottom of the screen they kept flashing that request for any locals with a mastered magic ability to offer their services, but Seer hadn't dwelt on it much. The words had just started scrolling at the bottom of the screen again when something... clicked. She tilted her head to the side, and wondered if maybe her powers weren't a total waste. Had anyone tried projecting inside that thing? Seer knew there was something of a difference between the way a human could astral project and the way an Azrael vamp could, but she didn't know a lot about the power beyond how it affected her house.

As it happened, Seer was actually not terrible at that particular ability, even if it was one she didn't have cause to use often. Without thinking much about it - perhaps because she never in a million years expected it to actually work - Saoirse began acting on the impulse immediately. She planted her feet apart and leaned her entire body against the counter, and intentionally relaxed every part of her body. She closed her eyes and focused hard on leaving her body behind. And just like that, she was gone. Her body, no more than an empty husk. She began soaring in the general direction of the school, focusing hard on her destination. She began to sense more than see it looming ahead of her, and then she was at the barrier. For about three seconds, it felt as if her spirit was actually moving past it. And then it was as if the hand of God bitch-slapped her, not out of the general area, not just back into her body, not just across town, but right off the face of the entire damn planet.

It didn't do the sensation justice to call it a 'jolt.' Saoirse was thrown back into her body with such a massive force that it threw her not just off her feet, but against and through the back shelf. She hit the wall with such speed that the very foundation of the building seemed to rattle. Liquor bottles exploded, shards of glass pierced her flesh, but that was nothing compared to the pain of that... that force. Saoirse was sprawled in a heap on the ground, but the world was spinning around her. The worst part was the way that everything seemed to have been knocked out of her. She had no need to breathe, so wasn't it impossible to have the wind knocked out of her? The sensation was similar and entirely foreign all at the same time. It felt as if whatever power it was that kept her body moving after death had been driven out of her. Screw breath, if Saoirse had opened her eyes then and there to discover that both airbags were hanging out of her mouth by her damned windpipe, she wouldn't have been at all surprised. In her entire life as a vampire -- no, in her entire existence on this earth, she had never known any pain like this before.

Somewhere, in the very back of her mind where thought was still possible, it occurred to her that shit like this was exactly why Grayson and Navi and every other vampire she knew that actually had their shit together was always on her case for thinking before diving headfirst into any given situation. Well, fuck.

TIME UPDATE

DATE: Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

BIRTHDAYS: None

WEATHER: The situation involving the high school is, at this point, dominating global news. There is no information whatsoever being given to the public, save for the most basic facts: no one can get in, there's no communication from anyone inside, and the invisible barrier itself seems to be of some magical origin. That's it. The president addresses the nation, and even he offers no more than that. Promises are made that everything possible is being done, but no progress is being seen.

No one has any way of knowing this, but for those inside, time is behaving much differently. Those on the inside may feel as though as little as an hour has passed since becoming trapped. Some groups may have experienced more. None of them would believe that it's been nearly forty-eight hours since they became trapped in these strange places.

MOD NOTE: If you are in one of the homecoming groups, do not start new scenes until getting mod clearance. When you feel your group is ready to advance to the next gameday, contact a mod for permission.
