Listen, listen it could be an addiction
Who: Liliya and Lizbeth
Where: Liliya's office
When: Around eleven p.m.
The high school fiasco was not something that Liliya could be held responsible for. It was not something she could have dreamed of happening. It was not in her district. It was not in her realm of imagining. Who had thought of it happening? Why should she care was also another thing that had been lingering on the tip of her tongue when it had happened, but had not actually slipped out. That would have been disastrous. Of course she understood the need to put on a sympathetic face and pretend that she cared about all those little teenagers and their chaperones, when really there were only a few that she could be bothered to remember the names of. Darklis Tinka, House of Azrael, she had met her. Then there were two Sol's that were in attendance because one was the guidance counselor; Cheyenne Summers and Lee, her boyfriend or something along those lines. Past that... Liliya hardly thought she could be blamed for not being bothered to memorize the guest list. It was a high school dance and she had better things to focus on. Though right now? All questions that anyone asked seemed to go right back to that and what was being done about it and what everyone thought was happening. 'I don't give a damn' was not an acceptable answer, and the vampire had rapidly depleted her stock of angelic blood to help get through yet another day. At least the main focus was at the actual school.
Truthfully, the missing vampires were a bit of a worry. With how many days had gone by it would be no surprise if they had decided to turn on the others and make dinner out of them. Whether or not the ones that they fed on saw the need for this was the real question. And whether or not they would tell the truth about it when they got back... vampires could be shed in a very bad light here if things went the wrong way and that was what Liliya was preparing for. Enough had happened over the past months without her needing that to make it worse. Maureen was already watching her with those hawk eyes and she did not need another phonecall from Michael-
"What?"
The slight jump made her realize that the door had only just opened and her assistant - was this one Ashley or Jamie? They came and went so fast that she mixed their names and faces up - had not actually said anything. "I... finished the reports you needed filed and was just letting you know that I'm heading home. Everyone else has been gone for hours." Liliya just stared at her without blinking, these were things that she already knew. The building had been blissfully silent. Her assistant shifted - Jamie, definitely, she was newer and uncomfortable, Ashley was almost fully used to her and probably ready to leave soon because of it - and tried to match the stare before she finally dropped her eyes. "Do you need anything else." The silence that continued to stretch should have answered that question without her needing to. Really, she needed to remind Ashley to teach the new girls how to handle her. She should not need to tell them these simple things.
"Leave." And Jamie all but fled out of the office as Liliya reached out for her phone. Lizbeth was not her first contact, Maureen still held that honor, but she was very near the top. Speaking of Maureen, her sire had had the audacity to question whether or not she had had her daily dose of angelic. As though I am an addict. Her fridge was empty of Naoki's blood and even the earth elemental's blood was drained. All that was left was regular and she needed angelic to take the edge off. A nice, fresh shot straight from the source... still warm and drawn from the neck? It would have been nicer perhaps to call, but Liliya preferred a simple text. 'I need your blood.' It was more an afterthought that reminded her to add. 'I'm at my office, not at home, come here, the back door will still be unlocked.'
She even made sure to call out to Jamie to ensure that was true.</strike>
