And so the hermit leaves her bookstore.

Who: Max and Chloe (And an NPC old lady)
When: Noon
Where: Tiny place near Bargain Books

The fridge was empty and Max just stood staring into, almost willing food to just appear out of no where. She was either going to have to go shopping and then cook, or hit the small dinner near her house. That sounded like an infinitely more welcoming idea than shopping and then cooking. Max was hungry now, not in an hour and she trusted the tiny place. It was usually lacking in customers and therefore the cups and plates hadn't been used too much, giving them small little histories that didn't bother her.

Locking up the bookstore (she still hadn't found a replacement), Max set off for the dinner. She wasn't a usual by any means, but the older woman behind the counter recognized her enough to be welcoming. "Hello, dear. It's been a while, how are you?" she asked as Max took a table by the windows. Giving her a smile, Max answered simply and didn't even need to ask for cup of tea before it was sitting in front of her. "Thank you."

She'd already decided what she wanted before entering but looked over the menu, just to reaffirm her choice.

Marking your territory

Who: Annabelle and Chase
When: Evening
Where: The streets
What: Making things official

Dinner, while it was great, hadn't gone as Chase had planned. He'd wanted to ask her to be his girlfriend during the course of the meal, but he'd chickened out multiple times. By the time that they left the restaurant, he still hadn't asked her and he couldn't help but feel almost as nervous as if he were popping a marriage proposal and not a 'will you be my girlfriend' question. He couldn't understand how this sort of thing had gotten so difficult. It hadn't been this hard when he was in high school, but he attributed that to the fact that Annabelle wasn't anything like those girls that he'd dated when he was a teenager. She was different, she was more important.

The things I'd do for you.

Who: Skylar and Sawyer
When: Early in the damn morning, or late at night rather
Where: Skylar's home
Warning: NSFW

Sawyer had really tried not to call her. That whole three day rule thing was a fuckload harder to live by than he'd thought though. Three days? Seriously? A girl actually spends some time getting to know him and he actually tries to wait three days before calling her? But if he didn't, he would have seemed desperate. But wasn't he desperate? In a way, yes, but he didn't want her to know that. He didn't want to seem like the clingy, 'gotta be around you every second' sort of guy because he had the feeling that would do nothing more than scare the girl off.

I'd even walk in the rain, and I'm a fire elemental )

Most respectable walk of shame ever

Who: Ben and Sloane
When: morning
Where: the Stone house

It was early in the morning and Ben was having a nice, healthy breakfast in the kitchen. It made him happy that, despite the full moon being tomorrow, there weren't really any preparations to be made. All he and Will had to do was lock themselves up in their cage and tough it out. Sure, it was going to be slightly painful, confusing and, well, angry, but at least they had the process down to a T by now. Loud music and cages. Yeah, that was it.

He supposed now he could truthfully explain to Amelia why he might or might not have to come in late on Wednesday, whereas before he and Will both would have to make excuses about some illness (which was plausible if they picked something contagious) or food poisoning. Though he could only speak for himself; he'd let Will choose what to do about himself.

All seemed to be well, and those were some pretty good pancakes he was eating. Which he had made more of, since he was feeling kind this morning.

Let it rain, Let it pour

Who: Freddie and Renard
Where: The streets, and then a diner, then more streets
When: Late morning/Early afternoon

Freddie was hungry. After a whole morning at the lake, and the struggle with the merman over what he considered his 'turf', which was the same 'turf' she considered hers, she really needed a bite to eat. Too bad her house was kind of far away from where she was now. She didn't think she could be bothered to last until she got home. Especially because the way she - and her clothes - were soaking wet by now, moving was proving to be difficult. She decided to walk to the nearest diner and, hopefully, her money wouldn't be too wet to be used. She had a wallet, sure, but it wasn't exactly impervious to rain. Despite all the hunger Freddie felt happy, if anything because she'd just done one of her favorite things - swimming under the rain - and because it was still raining. Her hair gluing to her face wasn't that comfortable, though, but she could deal. She was walking down the street humming a song to herself, and getting her tongue out to let a few drops of rain fall on it, from time to time. Good times.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah )

Good Morning, Sunshine.

Who: Lucius and Marlowe
When: Early Morning
Where: Their home

It was the first day on a new job and Lucius was looking to make a good impression. That good impression, he figured, could be made by showing up early rather than on time and so he carefully got out of bed, not wanting to wake his sleeping wife and went about getting a shower, shaving and getting ready for work. Once he was dressed and ready, aside from his shoes which he would put on later, he crawled back into bed with his wife, sliding his arms around her body and giving her a smile. "Morning, Beautiful." he murmured, pressing his lips against her neck. "I gotta get finished getting ready but I didn't wanna leave without saying goodbye."

Sigh. Daycare.

Who: Maria and Hathor (and NPCs Sabina and Hadrian)
When: Early morning
Where: Little Miracles daycare

So, Hathor had caved. Day care it was.

She was still hoping one of her contacts would return word of a willing lamia to take the job of nanny or au pair, but in the meantime, day care it would be. She had called around over the weekend and found one suitable, and today was set to be their first day. The twins had been carefully coached, and knew their do's and don't's. Hopefully. Hathor was trying to hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

After parking, she helped the twins out of the car, and with one of their little hands in each of hers they walked toward the building. The twins, of course, were perfectly content with this new development. Their mother was not. She did not often trust strangers with her children.

Mainly, she didn't trust her children with strangers. Hopefully, they would play nice.

Do Earth Elementals have Mudballs?

Who: Jace, Raina, and Elijah, Jocelyn, and Quinn (NPC's)
Where: The park
When: Early afternoon, just after the thunderstorms have started to ease up
Why: Because Auntie Adrie and Uncle Josiah need some time alone dammit!

Ah, today was gonna be a good day. He'd originally showed up at the house to pay his respects to his aunt and uncle, but pretty much as soon as he'd arrived said pseudo-parental units said something along the lines of, "Oh Uncle Jace is here! Kids go play with Uncle Jace and we'll see you in a bit." Only they'd managed to say said sentence all as one word and placed both children at his feet all within the span of about five seconds. Honestly he was a bit more shellshocked than anything, after all he did say that he'd watch the kids whenever they wanted him to, and who was he to deny his dear aunt and uncle some alone time? So, with the two stir crazy children in tow (and miraculously clad in all their rain gear, criminey how far away did they see him coming?) Jace set off to find something for all of them to do.

Arriving at the park, Jace surveyed his now slimy surroundings. An idea hit him, and he turned and said to the kids, "Alright troops, fall in!" The two little ones stood as rigid as their little spines could muster and Jace stood before them holding Quinn and looking like a bizarre combination of both Patton and Dr. Evil. Deciding that he was feeling a bit more inspirational than the previously mentioned figures, he put on his best Winston Churchill impression as he said, "Today we are to embark on a great battle my little soldiers. Today, we learn how to play Mudball!" The next few minutes involved Jace explaining the art to packing and tossing the proper mudball and then explaining some sort of game that had less rules than Calvinball. In less than five minutes all three of them were hopping about the playground picking up gobs of mud and throwing them at each other with all the reckless abandon of people who really didn't consider caked mud to be an issue.

Quinn, of course, sat on the tire swing and attempted to keep himself as clean as possible. Utterly shocked at the fact that he was actually surprised by this behavior...at least from Jace anyway.

does this qualify as irony?

Who: Renard and Rowan (and npc familiar awesomeness)
When: Morning
Where: Aeaea

Rowan now knew, for future reference, Killer did not approve of this rain business. Not that Rowan was particularly thrilled about it either. She actually quite liked the rain - but as a person who depended on a bike as primary means of transportation... it was a little uncomfortable. Having the morning off, she had wanted to check out the new magic shop, and riding a bike with a rabbit in your bag was difficult enough. By the time she reached the shop, she was soaked to the bone. And Killer wouldn't stop bitching.

"Are you somewhere dry yet? Can I come out now?"

"Not yet," Rowan murmured lightly, still feeling a little silly about talking aloud to an animal in public. She chained her bike and hurried inside, lightly shaking her arms as she took a look around. "'Kay."

Finally, it's so nice, I'm so ha-WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? )

another rainy day and all i have is time

Who: Corentin and Freddie
Where: Out in the lake
When: Morning

Corentin usually liked rain, when he bothered to get close enough to the surface to notice it. Today, though, it was rather inconvenient, and the splash of raindrops into the small lake he'd spent the night in made him scowl with irritation. He'd actually wanted to go exploring on land today for a change, to brush up on his rather pathetic knowledge of human culture before he talked to Charlene again, but now that was out of the question.

And he'd been hoping for a distraction, too. He found himself missing his podmates more than usual, wishing he could talk to his brother again, or his father--family and friends that he'd been eager to get away from when they were traveling together every day, but whom he'd give just about anything to see again right now. Just for a little while. If he had any idea where they were, he would set off to find them, but they would be thousands of miles away at the moment, and by the time he reached the waters they usually frequented, they'd probably be somewhere else.

And of course his son would be off doing something ridiculous like trying to learn magic, or befriending a vampire, or something equally outlandish. Corentin didn't even pretend to understand any of it. But that wasn't important anymore.

Fine, then. He'd find something to do that didn't involve taking human form. The fish in this lake made for really tedious conversation, but surely there had to be another way to occupy himself. If nothing else, he could seek out one of the other merfolk he'd met. He had to imagine they were probably as bored as he was.
