WEATHER: Things remain cool and overcast, and local weathermen are delivering the sad news that it’s time to dig the sweaters out of storage. Fall is upon us.

EVENTS: At least one local business is taking pity on the local teens being deprived of their parade. This is the last weekend the Berry Bucket, Scarlet Oak’s drive-in theater, will be open for business, and they’re offering half-price movie tickets to any local high school student. Decorated cars will get coupons for popcorn or candy. That’s good for teenagers, but Scarlet Oak might have a problem on its hands. The raving elderly fae couple with their magical ball of light is back.

Things have been quiet regarding the local park (which is still under quarantine), but local authorities must have put the pieces together. When a call comes in about a strangely dressed elderly couple jumping across rooftops in downtown Scarlet Oak, all while throwing around a strange ball of light, no less than six squad cars arrive on the scene in less than three minutes. No one can say what exactly happened. The couple were not caught, but all twelve officers who attempted the chase were ordered to stay silent by their superiors, and warned that their jobs will be terminated if anyone – especially the media – hears about what happened.

End result: the fae were not captured, and their little game of spell-catch has once again rebounded – this time on twelve random targets. This time, the spell is not limited to elementals or weres. In fact, it even targets vampires, an angel, and a demon. Its targets are Missy, Nikita, Treat, Tanith, Maya, Bubbles, Emyli, Luke, Satu, Cheila, Regina, and Liam.

Here’s how it works. At four AM, each target will fall into a deep sleep (if they are not sleeping already). They will then experience an extremely vivid, extremely personal dream. Immediately after, they will experience someone else’s. Once again, each target is paired with another. The pairs are Missy and Nikita, Treat and Tanith, Maya and Bubbles, Emyli and Luke, Satu and Cheila, and Regina and Liam. So, once Missy has her dream, she will then immediately experience whatever it was Nikita dreamed.

Each of the twelve will awaken at sunrise (which occurs today at 7:19 AM). Upon waking, each of the twelve will feel groggy and disoriented for a couple of minutes, and will have great difficulty finding the strength to move. It’s also going to take at least a full sixty seconds to realize the dreams were dreams. They will have felt so exceptionally real, and affected every sense. Each dreamer is going to wake up still feeling something from their match’s dream. It might be a smell, taste, or even sound or sensation, but it’s going to linger with them on and off all day. They will each remember every detail of each dream.

Oh, it’s also worth noting that Bargain Books is closed indefinitely. No one knows why, but spoiler alert: the spell exploded on their rooftop and an actual, fully grown scarlet oak tree has sprung up through the floor. Huh.
