Just checking in

Who: Adrian and Charlene
When: Afternoon
Where: U of M Hospital

In Adrian's professional opinion, it was a bad idea to have interns studying the mermaid during rounds. Rounds could be voyeuristic and unpleasant enough for the patients as it was, but for someone who really seemed to dislike both hospitals and humans, it just seemed like a recipe for disaster.

Besides, it struck him as a real waste of time. How many more merfolk were the doctors here likely to have to treat? He'd rather have his interns learning relevant things about human anatomy. They needed the practice.

But it wasn't his call to make, and at least the rounds were handled by his superiors. He wasn't sure what all they were doing with the mermaid, to be honest. Maybe they were skipping over her and keeping the students occupied with other patients, though he doubted it. He'd have to ask her. He was due to check on her anyway, and hopefully she would be healing well enough that they could send her home when they'd said they would. It was always disappointing to have to tell a patient they'd have to stay longer.

He picked up her chart and flipped through it as he entered her room. "How're you doing, Ms. Pearl?"

Not Your Typical Kid

Who: Kristen and Sawyer
When: Afternoon time
Where: Kristen's house

Missy had gotten away with Kristen going to the daycare the previous day, but Kristen had made a stance that morning about refusing to go again. Not because there was something wrong with the adults, they were all really nice, she just didn't like being around that many kids her age for a long period of time. It made her more uncomfortable than anything else could manage. A lot of those very kids had bullied and teased her before, wasn't like it wouldn't happen again. She'd just rather someone like Fable didn't have to see. One of the things that Kristen definitely hated was adults knowing that she got picked on. They always made such a big deal about it.

Luckily, Missy had managed to find her a babysitter and so Kristen's art teacher put her on the bus that went by her house instead of the daycare. "Thanks!" the young girl called to the bus driver as she hopped off the stairs and skipped up the stairs to her front door. Not surprised to find it unlocked, someone was there after all, Kristen walked inside and set her backpack neatly on the first step. "I'm home!" she called, expecting whichever babysitter it was this time to peek their head out. This was completely routine for Kristen even if she was starting to think she was too old for it. She was almost ten!

Dancin' where the stars go blue

Who: Lia and Torque
Where: Secluded spot near the river
When: Evening
What: A date. An official one

It had taken some thought on her part to come up with a date that would be fun. But would also be something that Torque would enjoy. That was the hard part. She didn't think that he was the typical go bowling, see a movie kind of guy. So a picnic was something simple. And it would be night, something resembling a romantic setting. So she cooked. A lot. Grilled chicken. Potato salad. There was fruit and fresh baked cookies. There was iced tea and a couple of beers if he wanted. Or if she wanted. Lia just wanted to be prepared. Which is why she had the portable speakers for her iPod packed in her bag.

Her outfit was practical, jean capris and a tank top. Flip flops. She was comfortable. Once the picnic basket, or in this case cooler and tote bag containing a blanket and several towels (because she was the prepared type), was packed, she headed over to Torque's apartment. She knew Ammo was going to be babysitting for the night and she'd brought some cookies over for him and Patience as well. She knocked on the door and waited.
