Day 327 - video & action/open

It doesn't look like things are slowing down, so I think we should take precautions and start moving people and supplies up to the floating island. It might be overkill, but I'd rather be safe than soaked. We'll get you back down or into the upper levels of the apartments if it stops.

But for now everyone get to the Defense Force headquarters. We'll gather on the roof there to head up to the island. Bring food, ponchos, whatever you might need.

I need everyone who can get to the island with flight, phasing, leaps of strength, teleporting, whatever to start ferrying people and supplies up there. I'm not just talking to the force either. [That's right, you've been enlisted.]

There's also no shelter up there and since it's obviously raining I want someone putting together a list of what we need to make a water-proof shelter up there fast. Speaking of fast, Wally consider yourself on assembly duty. While we're at it, let's make some rafts just in case. Gather up what you can find in the stores. I've never wanted to go kayaking, but that doesn't mean it's not available.

Volunteers need to respond or I'll start volunteering you.

We aren't keeping anyone at a dispatch station during this, but if anyone needs help, don't forget you have a communicator attached to your face. We'll get to you. Now, move.

[As one of the people who can get up to the island she'll be moving between the rooftop and there at least until the rooftop floods over and then she'll still be trying to do what she can.]

[Private | Nathan]
I'm taking you up personally. [Because she doesn't want to chance that he won't go and it will get worse.]

(OOC: This post takes place at the point where water would be more than ankle deep even in the first floor of buildings. You are very welcome to respond to it later when things have gotten more severe too! Maybe your character didn't believe things were bad enough to worry initially. Just know she didn't start by saying this when it was already over rooftops.)

Yo, clinic staff and anyone else who's got a little experience with CPR or lifeguarding, is a particularly strong swimmer or whose got skills that might be useful for us if the water rises much higher - put your hand up. The Force here's looking for volunteers but I'm going to be the one poking you all with a stick to get organized.

[Karev's wet to the bone, still packing waterproofed supplies - the last of it from the clinic. Anything for small abrasions from floating garbage to CPR mouth guards. Not that they'll likely see much use, hopefully. He looks a little tired but it's not the first time he's worked through a hangover and frankly, it's forgotten pretty quick. As terrible as it sounds, he thrives on a good disaster. The ability to do something in a good disaster.]

Keep tabs on your friends and neighbors, not everyone knows how to swim or how to admit that they never learned. Once someone goes under there's only a short period of time to do something in. After about seven minutes, they're gone. And don't go trying to be a savior if you're not trained to, either, because a drowning person can drag you down too if you're not prepared.

[Private to Gwen Cooper]

[This comes a little later after his first broadcast, and this is only voice. He - debated doing this, honestly. But here he is because ignoring it didn't help, it only made him pack three of the same thing into one pack.] Yo.

You getting along okay in this crap?
