DAY 293 — Morning Greeting

[info]ai_veridical
[info]marinanova
Today is Day 293.

As you may have noticed there was something of a minor glitch with the environmental systems yesterday. Impressively, you all managed to survive despite your best efforts not to go to the designated safe zones as instructed. Unfortunately, some of the food supply from Sector 6 was caught up in the storm as well, and did not fare so well.

Phase one of clean up is currently underway. Bots have already cleared the misplaced organic material. They will move on to ensuring all structures are sound. Enter at your own risk. However, you will not be permitted in the library, The Tier apartments, or the movie theater for the remainder of the day. If you are unwisely already in any of these locations, exit immediately and with utmost caution. Anyone caught on any of these premises will be removed and assigned a punishment.

If you live in The Tier we will take care to protect your belongings, but do not attempt to get them. Simply find an empty space in one of the other apartments or stay at a friend's apartment if you've managed to make friends. Get anything you need for the day at one of the various stores. If you abandoned your pet to save yourself yesterday a bot will be returning it to your person shortly.

Take care where you step today. There are still some low-lying areas filled with water and the ground is very moist. Repair and clean-up efforts will take a few days. We also have some new arrivals. I would apologize that the place isn't as presentable and functional as usual, but then we're still practically a resort prison, and you are criminals. Welcome.

"There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm." — Willa Cather

(OOC: Kiosk requests will be handled by Veridical unless otherwise requested! Warden request post is HERE for your convenience! Mail submissions go HERE!

If you want your character to commit the crime of trespassing on an off-limits location, just reply to IC Rules to report it. The areas will be roped off with warning signs.)

action;
[ One moment, she has her grip firmly around Bonnie and Caroline both, a tight embrace of nerves and relief and raw emotion, eyes wide in disbelief and voice cracking in a gasp of her friend's name, and the next? The next she's standing in a dome under the sea, with dress changed for an orange jumpsuit that screams nothing short of prison and then the announcement starts and as she listens, all she can do is dig her nails painfully into the flesh of a palm still stained with blood (hers, or Tessa's, she can't really remember), in some attempt at stability.

Everything the voice speaks is true; how many crimes had she become guilty of? In an existence that had long become a single, waking funeral, how many deaths did she cause? But she knew that, she knew and she accepted this as part of her very being and this? This was wrong and it made her angry. Angry, to have a best friend that was dead be ripped from her grip like this again, angry that she had no choice. Angry that this was nothing short of what someone horrible would deserve, too.

She breathes in, collects herself with eyes fluttering shut and chin rising high. A spine painfully straight, she listens to the noises around her and -

- and goes absolutely rigid when she hears much less than she thinks she should. It's like the hearing she has become so starkly attuned to had been pressed to mute and her mind is reeling all over again as she pivots on the back of her heel and walks, walks hell knows where with a distant stare. Stops again, sets her jaw. No, she's faced worse things than this. She's survived worse things, and just like with everything else, she'll survive this; and she'll figure out how the hell to get back to her home. With some semblance of resolve returned, and with a step far more certain than she felt, she begins to walk through the dome.

video;
[ she turns the device to video, focuses the screen to herself. her smile is brief, and hesitant, but it's there, worn as a habitual shield she's taught herself to hold. because she isn't sure how she should be responding to this situation. to being in prison. ] Bonnie? Are you here?

- Or, well. Anyone from Mystic Falls? [ loathe as she is to admit it, any one of them could be here in account of whatever crimes this place knew about. she saw bonnie's name in the contacts, and in light of her best friend's recent ... resurrection, it's the first thing she must ask. a strand of hair tucked behind her ear. and there's a set to her jaw that hints at her growing frustration, unease.. ]

So - what do they want us to do, exactly? Spend our time contemplating all the bad things we could've done? [ no way was she elaborating any of her crimes; a glance tossed sideways, as she looks on from a little perch she's found to sit on, in the hideous orange jumpsuit she found herself in. ] Or community service - or what? [ seemed pretty laughable, t b h. she works at her bottom lip, and there's a passing frown along her nose as she pushes out a sigh. ] I guess I just want to know more about this place. Help a girl out?

Thanks - [ another small press of her lips, a single dimple in her cheek that's strained at best, before the feed cuts short. ]

[ This is not the syndicate laboratory. The boy looks around himself in a panic before noticing the message playing on the headset he's been given. The welcome message makes sense, he guesses; the list of crimes, not so much. There are a couple that he can understand why, in theory, somebody might accuse him of them, but he has no idea where most of the rest of them came from.

He's never even driven a car before, let alone without a license. Or while asleep.

And he's never heard of any MarinaNova Asylum. Well, that's easily solved with a simple lookup. Standing right there in the middle of the sidewalk in Sector 2, paying no mind to the storm damage surrounding him, he closes his eyes and spreads his arms to his sides.

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing. He can't access the Gaia Library. This... is not good. ]

[ video ]

[ The boy on the video feed is visibly disheveled. His hair is a mop-like mess and there's a look of disorientation in his eyes that goes beyond the usual new arrival. ]

What is this place? I can't look anything up. I need to-- my research, I can't be here--

[The sight of new arrivals in the dome probably isn't all that unusual but just how many of them introduce themselves dripping wet and covered in flecks of mud? That bit of advice during the morning greeting about watching where you step? Rose is kind of wishing she'd paid attention to it right about now.

Her mouth opens, closes, opens again and yet rather than words, all she can manage at first is a shake of her head as her face runs through a veritable Rolodex of emotions, the main theme being Pissed.]

When I went to bed last night I was under the impression that things couldn't actually get any worse. [Her jaw locks in place, the Dhampir so angry right now that she's moved into that semi-scary place of calm with a side of snark.] I - stand - corrected!

[ Action ]

[The bright orange jumpsuit is hard to miss, even when it's muddy and dripping water onto the sodden ground as the person sporting it sits there with her arms resting on top of her knees, trying to ignore every itch and generally uncomfortable sensation that comes from being kidnapped, thrown in prison again and soaked to the core. Even if you missed her video introduction to the residents of the dome, it doesn't take a genius to realize what's happened. She's pretty much the poster child for Take care where you step today.]
