DAY 267 — Morning Greeting

[info]ai_veridical
[info]marinanova
[The day post is actually just a little later than usual today. Really just half an hour or so, but for an AI that is a bit strange.]

Day 267. Sunny. Mild. You're still prisoners. You have new prisoners to play with today. Stop me if you've heard this one before. Actually, I think I'll just stop myself. Carry on.

(OOC: Kiosk requests will be handled by Veridical unless otherwise requested! Mail submissions go here).

[ action ]
[Korra's not the kind of person who can keep still. She needs to move, to act, to do. For now, that means exploring every inch of her new prison, taking in as much information as she can in order to drown out the things she doesn't want to think about: Hei. Yin. Jinora. Her bending.]

[ voice - private to Aidan - morning ]
[Korra's time in the City changed her a lot. A year and a half ago, she wouldn't have even been able to post to the network with this thing, but she's become familiar enough with technology that after just three days, she's figured out how to send a private message.

She hopes, at least. She's not going to take chances.]

Hey, we should meet somewhere and talk. [She's still very interested in getting into those forbidden buildings and finding out whether they house the people running this show.]

[ooc: The action section can be backdated to any time between Day 263 and Day 267, if for some reason you'd like to backdate something! Just make a note in the subject line. The voice message to Aidan is Day 267.]

[Okay, Veronica, let's think about this.

You've woken up in a prison jumpsuit, with a gawky headset saying you've been convicted of numerous crimes. Somebody has gone through a lot of trouble and money to prank you. Considering I'm right outside a sex shop, I'd say it was Dick, but he doesn't have the intelligence or the commitment. One of his friends?

It could be anyone. Face it, you've made a lot of enemies, and most of them are extremely wealthy and stopped maturing in high school. I didn't think anyone had this much imagination, though. More to the point, I don't think I've been drugged. No headache, no dry mouth, no nausea. Maybe I've just been unconscious long enough for all the common side effects to pass, but that seems a little too convenient. Are there drugs with no side effects?

I really should have studied pharmaceuticals instead of psychology in undergrad. Damn.

So recap: prison jumpsuit, no sign of drugs, no idea who has both the resources and the imagination to pull a stunt like this. You got nothing, Veronica.

Time to see what you can find out.
]

[ action ]
[Her course of action decided, Veronica sticks the headset in the waistband of her pants — it's strange and she'd rather not wear it unless she absolutely has to — and heads out to explore her surroundings. There has to be some kind of answer somewhere.]

[Right, well. Not the first time he's found himself in an unfamiliar place. It's also not the first time he's found himself stuck in a glass prison surrounded by water. Unfortunately, said surrounding water doesn't feel familiar to him at all and his bearings are all jumbled and mixed up and his mind is still reeling from that message he'd woken up with.

Deep breaths, Percy. You've been in far worse.]

Hey, fellow crooks and criminals. I should totally be used to this by now. I mean, I am. You could probably tell by the way I'm not freaking out or anything.

[It's true, he's actually pretty darn composed. Almost like he does this for a living.

Gods, he doesn't want to do this for a living.]

So... prison! [Claps his hands together as he very obviously searches for something to say.] As much as I'd love, like seriously love to spend the rest of my life stuck in a giant fishbowl with the rest of you, I'm kind of on a tight schedule. Places to be, people to see...

[Goddesses to kill, a world to save. The usual in the life of Percy Jackson.]

I'd really appreciate it if someone could just point me to the nearest exit sign and I'll take it from there, thanks.

[And though he keeps his tone light, there's a weary light to his eyes, a tense set in his jaw as if he's ready to spring into action at a moment's notice now.]

Day 267 | Open Action

[As he wakes up, he can tell something is wrong. Where is the sawing and hammering of the lumberyard near the bridgemen's barracks? The mixed smells of sweat and freshly oiled leather from the bridgemen themselves? The other sounds and smells from the rest of Sadeas' warcamp?

He wakes up the rest of the way all at once, opening his eyes and scrambling to his feet. Looking around, he is very confused by what he can see. Not only are the buildings different from the usual wood or soulcast stone he's used to, but the very plants themselve are like nothing he has ever seen. He's at least heard of the lush grass native to Shinovar that doesn't need to retract into the very ground to protect itself from the highstorms that the rest of Roshar is subjected to, but he has never actually seen it in person. Before he has a chance to take in much more, the communication device on his face comes to life, startling him at first, but it seems harmless enough, so he leaves it in place and gives half of his attention to the welcome message, the rest still attuned to his surroundings, preparing himself for just about anything.]

Kaladin!

[He's used to Syl running off on her own and coming back randomly, so when she flutters into view as a handful of glowing blue-white leaves, he just holds up a hand until the message on his communication device finishes, and she hovers in the air in front of him, seemingly watching him. Once the message is finished, he curses and pulls the device off of his face. He considers throwing it away, but before he can act on that thought, Syl flutters closer, transforming into her usual form of a tiny woman wearing a white dress that fades into mist at the edges, though her body itself is clearly defined. She settles down on Kaladin's hand, and examines the device.]

Kaladin, this place is very strange. I don't remember anything like it...

[Kaladin sighs.] I know, Syl. The last thing I remember was rescuing Dalinar and his men from the Tower, but I don't remember how we got here. I don't even remember falling asleep. Storm it! That bastard must be behind this somehow! [He clenches his empty hand into a fist.] Syl, I need to know what happened to my men.

[Syl stops poking at the device in Kaladin's hand, and begins to walk up towards his face, as though walking up an invisible set of stairs.] I don't know what happened to them. I don't even know where this place is! [She sits down right in front of his face, as though the very air was solid. She looks him up and down, then smiles.] By the way, orange really isn't your colour.

[He frowns at her, but says nothing, only snorts. Anyone watching this exchange would think he was talking to himself, but that doesn't even cross his mind, he's so used to Syl's preference not to show herself to anyone other than him.]

((OOC: If your character can regularly see things no one else can, they can vaguely see Syl, but they can't hear her. So feel free to acknowledge her or not!))

[ deanna's all set up in her new office today, settling in nicely, and as it seems to be a newbie day, she's decided to officially offer her services. so when she appears on the communicators, her smile is warm and gentle. ]

It seems a lot of new faces are appearing today. My name is Deanna Troi, for those I have not yet met. I'm a counselor and despite having held sessions previously in one of the lovely parks in the dome, I have recently been allowed an office of my own to use. I am trained as a therapist and have been practicing for several years. If anyone would like to speak with me about anything, I would be happy to assist. My expertise lies in helping people understand emotions and deal with what is happening in their lives. I believe that can extend here, as well.

If anyone has any questions, my office is located in Sector 2. Any sessions I have are strictly confidential. I do take pre-assigned time slots, as well as walk-ins. Whichever would be most comfortable for you. If you'd simply like to talk to me about nothing in particular, I would be happy to do that as well.

[ she can be found in her office or later on in the day wandering around sector 2 to get her bearings again. she still feels as though she's learning a lot, but it's sometimes nice to just walk around. at some point in the day, though, she'll be wandering around the trekpartment to find her husband, as she wants to talk to him again. life in the prison is beginning to get to her. ]
