BIRTHDAYS: Fluffy Hardinger
WEATHER: While the morning and night are considerably cold, things warm up about midday … to somewhere in the mid-50s. At least the sun’s out?
EVENTS: There is still a lot of media chatter going on concerning the emergence of the fae in our world. What does it mean? Who exactly are they and why have they not come forward themselves before now? More importantly: Why are were they targeting children? Yes, many major outlets are have chosen to run that (very wrong) angle. They aren’t alone. For as many sources that are only reporting that the fae are a dangerous, mysterious race, there are those who hold a more optimistic view. If the fae are the same “faeries” from the old tales, then they have had a history of living in secret; besides, it wasn’t so long ago that the rest of the supernatural was under wraps. But for all the back and forth that is happening on television, in the newspapers, and online, there has been nothing but silence from the only source that matters. Today marks the third day since the President of the United States made his announcement and not a single word more has been released in further explanation. As always, there is speculation that the government is covering something up, cleaning up after a race whom they are working with behind the scenes. There is tension in the air with these revelations, more so than usual -- that is the only certain thing right now.
As far as Scarlet Oak is concerned, truer words were never spoken. The weekend has brought little rest and relaxation for the residents in town. The area surrounding the high school has mostly been deserted outside of the quarantine team, who have been working around the clock in order to assess, study, and determine whether or not the school is fit to reconvene. So far, there hasn’t been much for them to find -- and why would there be? Around noon today, the team begin to pack up and head out of town. By two o’clock, all that lingers at the school is some remaining police tape circling the perimeter of the school. Though no word has been released through any official channels, the rumor traveling around town is that after a final sweep by the police, Scarlet Oak High School will re-open starting Monday morning. There is a push to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. Whether or not the rest of the town is ready for that has yet to be seen.
