WHO: Darklis & Micah
WHERE: A hallway, SOHS
WHEN: After school
As the bell rang signalling the end of the school day, Micah breathed out a long sigh of relief as he slammed his book closed and filed out with the rest of the students. Of course, there was no real breath involved in that entire motion, but it was a habit that he had yet to break. First of all, school sleepover was finally over and Micah was grateful. He'd planned on not even participating - there were kids who didn't - but his mom (who was still in some form of careful denial) looked at him like he was going to break her heart if he went to school in jeans. So he'd gone in a decent pair of - what else? - grey pajamas, though he'd thrown on a
hoodie and skullcap on. The cold didn't bother him but he always dressed for the winter (even in the summer) so it wasn't a stretch to add the scarf on. As he switched out his book for the rest of his clothes and his backpack, his mouth twitched as the flower bouquet his mother had painstakingly arranged from the garden came into view. In a moment of weakness, he'd tried to get his mother's mind off the fact that he was dead and started going on about homecoming and how he'd been nominated for king and pretended he was excited about it. The question of 'who are you going with' popped up and Micah ad libbed. He couldn't tell her the exact truth. That entire thing was preposterous and he didn't want his mother to keep asking him about
her so he'd come up with the next best thing: blah blah blah
there's another vampire at school. And then his mother - who perhaps had been reading the Twilight novels or something - created some sort of sick romance in her mind. And asked him what he liked about her (he said something about her hair) and then made him a bouquet. To ask her to homecoming with. ('How could anyone say no to you?')
Easy.( You leave me numb and I'm not sure why. )
