It's like I'm the one you love to hate

Who: Cameron, Liliya & *OPEN* to anyone at the debate
Where: Town Hall
When: 7:30 p.m.ish on, right after this.

Fifteen minutes after her closing statement Liliya felt ready for any questions that the crowd might have for her. Though really, she was more interested in seeing what they threw at Calvert. She had scented several vampires and weres in the crowd and that was not even including the ones who gave off no noticeable odor if they were not cut. She would not have wanted to be in his shoes. And true, hers might be a little tight depending on how intelligent the anti-supernaturals in the crowd were... but the only one she had any degree of recognition for at the current moment was Calvert's fiance. Other than her she had not been exposed to a large number of them and considered herself completely fine with that. She did not need a lesson in bigotry, it always left a bitter taste in her mouth.

"Welcome back," the mediator said to the crowd as they began to settle back down, more than a few holding little plates or cups and Liliya was pleased to see that the vampires had indulged. "Mr. Calvert and Mrs. Kennedy will now be accepting questions from the crowd. But please keep your questions relevant to the topic of supernatural rights and events that tie in with them, direct attacks will not be tolerated on either of them or other members of the audience. Now, first question?" More than a dozen hands shot into the air and Liliya found herself pleased when she realized that at least one vampire was among those with a question. "Yes, you in the second row, what is your question and who is it for?"

a little bird told me

Who: Gabe and Charlotte
When: Late morning/early afternoon
Where: Gabe's house, around Scarlet Oak

The days since Claire's funeral had been spent researching vampire families for one Charlotte Angel. She'd found that there seemed to be an awful lot of vampire who admitted to having some sort of shape-shifting ability, and even more alleged to have it. While good to have confirmation, it didn't help her at all in the grand scheme of narrowing things down. Trying to pinpoint even a few possible 'suspects' was ruled (to Charlotte's mind) as basically impossible. If she had anything else to go on, anything at all, maybe she would have had a shot. But she did not, and it was back to the drawing board.

It was a daunting task. How could they possibly identify a vampire that Gabe had never seen in a human form? If only someone, anyone had seen him... And that thought was what gave Charlotte her epiphany. Within an hour she was in her car, pulling into the driveway of Gabe's mom's.

This isn't going to be easy. )

TIME UPDATE

DATE: Thursday, July 30, 2009.

BIRTHDAYS: None

WEATHER: Temperatures and wind haven’t changed, but the sky is extremely cloudy. Northern parts of the state are getting slammed by intense storms, with mid-Michigan and the ‘thumb’ (AKA: east Michigan) under tornado watches. The worst of it is supposed to skip Ann Arbor entirely, but expect things to cool off a little.

EVENTS: Today is a day where local citizens should be talking of nothing but the debate in Scarlet Oak last night. Unfortunately, this little bit of epic in our corner of the world is being overshadowed with – what else – mind numbing horror!

Early this morning, parents of a family just outside of Ann Arbor’s city limits placed a hysterical 911 call. While most of it was mostly unintelligible, things were quickly figured out once the authorities arrived on the scene. The family’s nine-month-old twin boys were found… in a state so macabre and fiercely grotesque that the officers first to the scene tried to reason that it was possible all a fake. All that remained of one baby were bones – utterly picked clean. An anonymous source with the local news says to have overheard an officer say that the remains of the second twin ‘only looked slightly more like it used to be a baby.’

Reports state that there was no sign of forced entry, nor did the family or any neighbors report hearing any suspicious noises. Local authorities are being extremely tight-lipped about the case, but one alarming detail has leaked: a long trail of blood was found, leading out from the nursery, down the stairs and banister, and all the way out a doggie-door/cat-flap outside. An anonymous source says a family member was overheard describing the stains as looking like that ‘of a slithering snake’ and ‘like something done by the devil himself.’

Now, it’s very important to note that the word ‘lamia’ is NOT being used, publically, ANYWHERE. Lamiae are extremely rare beings, usually only known about to someone extremely close to one. Were snakes, however? Not such a foreign concept. Expect things to heat up drastically in the political world, as news teams from all over the country descend on Ann Arbor and Scarlet Oak.

If you have something you feel warrants a mention in the next time update, please let the mods know!

Let off some steam

Who: Zach, some NPCs
Where: Basketball court
When: Afternoon

The news had bothered Zach more than he really wanted to admit. Not because of what had happened, babies getting killed was just one of those things that happened and he thought it was totally normal since he did it too. But because it'd made the news and because of that bit of leaked information about a bloody trail and something about a snake. He hadn't heard anything said about lamia or naga so he hoped that people weren't smart enough to pick up on that but he couldn't be sure. Things like that you couldn't ever be sure of thanks to the power of the Internet and paranoia, courtesy of your local supernatural-haters.

You're sick. - And you're an idiot. )
