[With a loud thunk a fist pounds hard on the domed glass. Knuckles meet it dead on, the sound muffled. Tense, the girl behind the brawn stands with her hands clenching together tightly into solid fists, the name a growl on her lips. Despite the tacky orange jumpsuit, it can’t hide the fact that she’s in top shape, and just itching for a reason to pounce.

Prison? Rehabilitation...? Why that no good, scheming politician...

Rising fully she falls into a defensive stance, and her bright, blue eyes rake the buildings around her. The joke's on him if he thinks she’ll fall right back into line due to some ridiculous message. He’ll never get the chance to manipulate her again. And now he’s going to regret fitting this restrictive ankle bracelet on her and dragging her all the way down into some underwater circus.

Lifting her voice, she calls out to him on a challenge.]

I don’t know what kind of stunt you’re trying to pull, but you picked the wrong girl to mess with.

[Steps even, her face draws down hard into a stern glare as she moves. No noise is made as she walks, aside from the sound of her voice. Whatever he’s done she can’t access her bending with this thing on her wrist. That means her only option out of this place is right through him.]

You’re not going to get away with this, so come out here and face me, you coward!

I have to say, I’m not particularly impressed with the wardens’ fashion sense. Although I suppose if everyone’s dressed the same I can’t complain of looking the fool, since we’ll all be fools together! As stifling of individuality as that may be – but then, I suppose that’s sort of the point, if we’re in prison?

[he waves at the camera] Hello, fellow inmates! I am Loki, and I assure you I am not a foolish sort of person.

I do hope this thing is on. Otherwise I’d be talking to myself, and that really would make me look ridiculous.

[the communicator flicks on to a lot of throat clearing and subtle coughing. For a moment Stiles thinks about shutting the screen off and burying his head in his books, but. It's too late for that, right?]

Right so. Uh, I'm still pretty new to this place, but even I've realized that not everyone here is from California, or even from the same -- world as I am. Which got me thinking about stuff. Stuff of the supernatural variety. You know, ghosts, witches, voodoo magic, superpowers, werewolves. [He manages to sound very casual at the last bit. Aw yes.]

I'd like to know if anyone here has experience with those kind of things. And if you don't want to tell me, uh that's fine. I don't judge. I'm not really in a position to do a whole lot of judging considering...my situation. But yeah, it'd be nice to know.

Okay, so I got my notebook. It's the one I had at home, which brings up a few questions, but that's not what this is for, not completely. Reid, you said you wanted to look at some of my research? Oh! Touma Hashiba. When would be a good time to meet to discuss your notes?

[she pauses for a moment, then hurries on, as if something just occurred to her]

Oh! Question. Anyone have tips on living with others of the opposite gender? I've managed to land myself in a frat house, with all the connotations thereof. Back home I only had Darcy, and she was a very good roommate.

Good day, Marina-- or, I suppose, Marina Nova. I hope everyone is adjusting as well as can be expected. We've suffered some tremendous losses [herself very much included,] but I am certain we will be able to manage things as well as possible.

With regards to the Defense Force -- with Suzaku Kururugi among those lost, and the Wardens confirming for me that weapons and life sign monitoring are no longer available -- I would like to make a proposal. [and she's going to make it openly, so anyone can weigh in... trolls she can handle, and it's worth the risk to give everyone a chance to speak.]

Although I believed strongly in Suzaku and what he did with the Force, there was something troubling me. In some cases, members' primary motivation for joining was to obtain a weapon. And while I know for a fact that Suzaku would not admit anyone who was not suitable, it nonetheless seems as though such a team should have members whose primary reason for joining is belief in its purpose. And further, I believe that the invasion of privacy that the former Defense Force utilized for monitoring life signs made inmates uneasy. I know I had my own questions about such methodology, but it was not my team and thus not my place to debate what was in place.

However, now that many things have begun anew, I am wondering if there are those among us who believe strongly enough in protecting others that they would agree to do so without the promise of a weapon, or any such personal gain. A new leader would need to be elected, and I would be happy to oversee the process if the potential members would like. Any and all proposals will be considered.

With regards to weaponry and special abilities for those who would use them in defense of themselves or others, that is a battle that I will continue to fight with the Wardens, regardless of whether there is a formal Defense Force. I believe in our members, and all of you will have my full support regardless of the status of the organization as a whole.

Orange jumpsuits? Can't you guys be a bit more creative? I mean, I realize that orange is pretty demoralizing but what about blue? Or the classic with black and white stripes?

A little bit of variety here would be nice!

Well, free to look around anyway. Maybe you'll pick your pet up from the pet cafe or search the pile for your personal items before someone else gets to them first. You could be inspecting the barrier around sector six. Did you just hear something scratching it from the other side? Maybe you want to find the nearest clothing store and upgrade from prisoner-chic to something a little more you. Maybe you appeared somewhere awkward and could use a hand with that. It could be you're just wandering around, familiarizing yourself with the new space.

Today is Day 1 of the first generation of Marina Nova, but since that might cause some of you to do painful math exercises in those tiny brains of yours, I've decided to call it Day 174. The day we've created for you is temperate and sunny. Now, we have a lot to cover, so do listen up. I don't like to repeat myself, but this time I will make an exception. I am Veridical, one of your new wardens, and this is Conscienti, the other one.

[The voice changes. It's still artificial, but this one is less fluid than the other.]

Greetings, inmates. You have been transferred here from [ Marina Asylum ] due to the closing of the facility. Please do not be alarmed.

You may find your personal effects in a brown paper bag next to you. The standard-issue uniform [which is a bright orange jumpsuit with your name printed on it] is not equipped with pockets. Additional personal items have been brought over and can be found in [ Sector 0 ]. Please note that items that are deemed harmful have been confiscated. [This means weapons even if you had them in Marina.] Pets have been brought over and may be reclaimed in [ the Pet Café in Sector 1 ]. The Kiosk is open for additional questions and requests. We value your input.

Housing is available in [ Sectors 2, 3 and 4 ] and you are welcome to claim living quarters in any of these areas. Guide bots are stationed at each sector entrance and may be approached for a basic tour of your new home. Should you prefer to explore on your own, you can access [ the Marina Nova map ] through the menu on your communicator.

[Veridical chimes in again.] You also saw the rules in there. Or you didn't. Read them or not. You're still responsible for them. Some are the same as what you're used to and some aren't. New prison. New handbook. You're welcome to complain. I have been programmed with a wide range of dealing with nonsense. We did give you a little gift though. All your previous punishments have been wiped out. If you were wearing one of those darling little barrier collars or had an extra dose of power reduction it's gone. For now. We did keep your sex licenses in tact. That's why some of you are wearing those blue wrist bands. You're welcome.

[Conscienti continues without hesitation.] Your safety is important to us. All transfers have therefor been fitted with a temporary ankle monitor that restricts any abilities you may have which are deemed too dangerous for your initial integration period [powers, supernatural abilities, "normal humans" who can usually do things like make a wall crumble with a tap of their finger, etc.]. It will be automatically released [ at the end of the day ] unless there is reason to restrict your abilities further. Calm and orderly conduct will ensure your release.
