Walks in the park
should be a nice, pleasant, relaxing way to unwind. They should be, you know, a walk in the park. Especially for Vinny, who'd been the best hiker and woodsman in his Boy Scout troop as a kid, immune to poison ivy, holder of every orienteering badge in existence, incapable of getting lost. He hadn't even known what an earth elemental
was, but he'd known he loved nature trails and pretty grassy areas and any place with anything green.
He
should still be able to enjoy that, but it's just that there's this one flower bed that just doesn't get taken care of the way it should, and it feels like it's crying out for help every time he walks past it, and...he just can't leave it be. Those poor pansies.
He gives in and kneels down beside the mulch, heedless of whether he gets his work clothes dirty. Mud always washes out. Quincy, pleased with him, sticks his wide pink nose out of Vinny's pocket and noses approvingly at his hand, before taking the opportunity to slip out and burrow into the dirt for a snack.
Reaching out towards one mangy-looking flower in particular, Vinny brushes its leaves tenderly with his fingers, trying to perk it up. "C'mon. There you go."
