Who: Rufus & Sasha
Where: Lenore bookstore & cafe
When: Early afternoon
The previous day's conversation with Bella could have gone better. Of course it could have been worse, but when your interactions were limited to one every few weeks, you tended to become something of a perfectionist; every meeting had to be an improvement on the time before it, had to gain a little ground with your desired person. Rufus wasn't so sure that this had been achieved. Would she be too suspicious if he bumped into her again next week? He really did need to find out more about her familiar, and those figs had been a complete rip off, but was that a justifiable enough reason to see her so soon? Hmm.
Still mulling over his choices, Rufus picked up a book his brother had pointed out to him about a week and a half ago and took it to the register to pay. Just like
stalking keeping tabs on your ex, maintaining the title of favourite sibling to your little brother required effort and research. His sister probably couldn't even find her way to the children's section, let alone pick out the next book in the series that Blake was reading. That was why she took second place.
Rufus paid for the book, took the bag from the sales clerk and headed off. As he strolled towards the exit a blonde woman waddled in front of him, one hand on her swollen belly as she headed for the door.
"Oh, hey, let me get that for you," Rufus called. Jogging past her, he grabbed the handle and held the door open.
