What a coincidence! Who: Rufus & Bella Where: Farmer's market When: Late afternoon
Thursday was market day. Bella would finish work usually around 4pm and then head over there to pick up what she needed. It wasn't too bad around that time, and since it was late in the day and some stalls had been trading since early morning, people were eager to get rid of what was left, pack up and go home.
Rufus had Bella's schedule scribbled down throughout his planner, although he rarely consulted it now because he didn't need to; the long term memory was a beautiful thing. Once he'd parked up, Rufus pulled his grocery list out of the glove compartment and folded it over in his hand before getting out of his car.
Door locked, he slung his keys into the pocket of his jeans and walked all of the way around to the opposite end of the stalls, trying to work out the best place to put himself. Bella always started out at the same stall and worked her way down the line, so unless he wanted to look like he was following her - which he wasn't, he just happened to know that she'd be here and had turned up around the same time - then he'd have to be waiting at a stall she was already heading to...but which one?
Rufus wandered past a couple of stalls before settling on one; he'd seen Bella hovering around it before...and it helped that there was a gorilla of a man standing next to him, arguing about cashew nuts and completely blocking him from view. Perfect.
He bought some figs as he waited for Bella to catch up to him, leaning slightly forwards every now and again to track her progress. Thankfully, she wasn't hard to miss. Rufus pretened to look over the rest of the seller's wares, asking the woman who'd served him the odd question in between looking out for his ex. She gave him a few dates to try and he thanked her, the flash of red hair at the next stall catching his eye.
With a smile, he turned away from the stall, ready to move on. Rufus shoved a date into his mouth and looked down at his list. Had he not looked up at just the right moment, he might have walked straight into Bella.
"Hey Bells!" Rufus smiled and held out his hand. "Want a date?"
