Saint Dymphna hear our prayer

Who: Helena, Lily, Rico, Niamh, Max, Charlotte
When: LOLCUTE
Where: Nowhere good

Something had been thrown at the back of Charlotte's head as they'd entered the last saferoom. She remembered feeling dazed and staggering across the threshold, and someone slamming the door behind her. She'd then stumbled over to something and collapsed without ceremony. She needed a few minutes, just a few minutes, to remember how to breathe and to convince the contents of her stomach they were going to stay in her stomach. When she next opened her eyes, the light in the room was different.

I'm in a... Charlotte blinked as she took in her surroundings, realizing that she had collapsed on a pew and was staring at the gold-plated prayer to St. Dymphna. She was still clutching both the map and one of their retrieved items to her chest. Gingerly, she sat up, and once she was absolutely certain she wasn't going to vomit, she checked the time. They had a half hour of sanctuary left. She looked around the room guiltily, hating herself for falling asleep or passing out or whatever it was that she had done. God knew her injuries weren't the worst. "Guys," she murmured, feeling incapable of using anything more than a soft tone in this place, "It's time to start figuring out a game plan."

Who: Charlotte, Helena, Lily, Rico, Niamh, Max
When: Who the hell knows
Where: St. Dymphna's Home for the Holy Shit We're Screwed
What: Ghosts and fuckery

Lily woke slowly, much like she did most mornings because whoever thought making school start so damn early in the morning was a monster who didn't take the needs of growing students into account. What was weirder, however, was that she was in a position to wake up at ALL, given that she didn't remember leaving the dance or going to sleep. The last thing she could remember was bouncing around gleefully because her best friend had won Homecoming Queen and her date had won King. She'd given Charlie a push to go accept her crown because she'd looked like she was about to bolt. Then they'd had their dance - to a kind of shitty song, but oh well - and after that... nothing.

Opening her eyes, Lily had a brief moment to stare in confusion before she was bolting upright, adrenaline slamming into her like a freight train. Because the room she was currently in looked way too much like the stone basement where she'd spent time as a kidnapped, unwilling blood donor, and it was freaking her the fuck out. She frantically checked both arms for needle marks and, finding none, was able to calm down enough to realize she wasn't being restrained nor was it actually a dungeon - it looked more like a bunker designed to keep things out than a dungeon meant to keep her in.

Breathing deeply to calm herself, Lily didn't spend much time looking around - nor did she pay attention to the soft murmur of voices in the background. First order of business was waking the people she could see sprawled around her. Distressingly familiar faces. "Oh, shit," she said, going immediately to the closest and most familiar form. "Guys, wake up." Kneeling, she reached down to lightly shake her best friend. "Charlie? Can you hear me? Wake up!"

Who: Lily and Rico
When: Pre-Homecoming
Where: Starting at Lily's house

The dance being cancelled on Saturday had been kind of a pain, but Lily had been able to get her hair appointment moved to the next day and so in the long run wasn't all that put out by it. Better to reschedule than have to worry about getting into and out of cars and the like in a downpour. She didn't consider herself to be overly girly, but if she was going to commit to hair and makeup and dress for the night, she'd be damned if it was going to get ruined before she could even enjoy any of it.

She'd spent the latter half of the afternoon getting ready; her hair was freshly done in a messy braided chignon, makeup done in smoky, warm neutrals to complement the pale gold accessories and dress she was so in love with. Pale gold heels finished the look, though she was definitely slipping a pair of roll-up flats into her clutch. She intended to do some serious dancing tonight, and highly doubted the heels would stay on the whole time.

The sound of the doorbell sent her in a rare flutter. "Mom, can you get that?" she yelled down the stairs. "I'm not ready yet!"

The return of the king

Who: Max and OPEN TO EVERYONE FROM SOHS!
When: During the pep rally
Where: At the pep rally
What: Pepping, rallying

It was like he'd never even been gone. Well, actually, that wasn't completely true. As much as Max would've liked to say that Scarlet Oak had stayed the same, boring wasteland (as Angeline would have called it), he'd heard something was going on at the park. He'd not gone to inspect himself (really being above all that petty curiosity nonsense) but he'd heard about it from all sides that day. He was a little behind on classes even though he'd gone ahead and turned in the homework someone else had done for him that day. No matter. He'd be caught up by next weekend. It meant very little socializing for his first week back but Max had had his fill of a fabulous social life for a while. It would be - not nice but - all right to get back to working hard and staying up late to do homework. Of course, he'd have to take a break to see Nicci and her friend but that was a necessity. He smiled at everyone as he passed them by in their seats, even deigning to wave to a few of them.

Spotting Russell and his posse, Max moved towards them. He sat close enough to exchange glances with Russ when their names were announced for court but not so close that people could congratulate them at the same time like they were one person. This morning, Max had had a rather posh back-to-school outfit picked out. Once he stepped outside, however, comfort won over fashion for once and he'd ditched the custom-made jacket, leaving him in a light blue shirt that complimented his eyes. He could still feel the humidity in his skin and while it was great for the pores, sweat stains were one of a fashionista's biggest enemies. He smiled when he saw a few familiar faces looking for seats and gestured them over. "Ugh, what is this weather, Michigan? I should've stayed away and waited for this heat wave to exhaust itself before coming back."

behind these hazel eyes

Who: Lily and Charlotte (and Anna, Charlie’s familiar)
When: Late morning
Where: Charlie’s house

Charlotte had not gone to school this week. On Monday morning her alarm had gone off, and she’d gotten out of bed... only to break down all over again and climb right back in. A few weeks ago missing school and shattering her perfect attendance rating would have seemed like a big deal. Now it felt like nothing. So what. Her mother tried to cheer her up, and tell her that time healed all wounds... but Charlotte just couldn’t face the world yet. She dreaded going back to school. She dreaded explaining things to her friends. So she stayed in bed. When her mom spoke, Charlotte had no reply. She stayed in bed and waited for the world to hurt less.

Yesterday her mother had been worried enough to stay home from work. Early in the afternoon she'd come in to tell Charlotte about what had happened at school, and Charlotte had gotten out of bed to head downstairs and watch the news. Isadora had been encouraged by that, but when it was over, Charlotte simply got up and went back to bed. In the morning, her mom told her that the homecoming parade had been canceled. That should have bothered her. S.O.A.R. in Unity was going to have their own float, and she'd been working really hard on it. Now she took the news with a shrug of her shoulder. Big deal. She sighed, and curled up closer to Anna. Before Anna had been her familiar, she'd been her beloved pet. When Charlotte's father had died, Anna had refused to leave her side. When Charlotte had come home from school crying because the other kids made fun of her, Anna was the one she poured her heart out too. Their surroundings may have changed, but the routine did not. Since Charlotte had come home from the hospital last week, Anna had not left her side. The spaniel stayed quiet, and was simply there. She didn't try and force Charlotte to talk, and Charlotte appreciated it more than words could say.

Who: Hunter and Lily
When: Afternoon
Where: the park!
What: Stuff?

One of Lily's favorite things about summer was that she had shit-all to do besides enjoy the hell out of herself and both teach and take classes at the studio. Having a job that didn't feel like a job? Was the bomb diggity. She was there practically every day, for hours at a time if not the whole day. This particular day was one of her lighter days; she'd taught two classes earlier and had popped out for a lunch break. After stopping at her favorite sandwich place, Lily decided to cut back through the park - it was a nice place to sit and eat, and she had enough time before going back to the studio to maybe screw around on her skateboard. She didn't really know many tricks, using it mostly for transportation, but she could totally learn.

Hopping her board over a stick on the path, Lily rolled her way to a nice-looking bench, shady and surrounded with flowers. Dropping her bag on the ground and propping her board against the bench beside her, Lily took a seat cross-legged and dug into her sandwich with a blissful expression on her face.

Evading the Darkness

Who: Gabe and Lily
Where: Funeral Home
When: Evening

When it didn't feel like things could get any worse, they succeeded in doing so. Gabe was beginning to wonder what rock bottom felt like, and if he could just hit it soon and begin to settle. It was never that easy. Maddock wasn't speaking to him, and Claire's mother could hardly look at him. He'd tried to talk to them, but neither would let him, and there was only so much effort Gabe could put forth. He'd avoided Claire's father like the plague, certain that things would come to blows if he even had to hear the man speak. With Claire's family in the main room, Gabe sat out in the hall of the funeral home, his face in his hands. He was concentrating on breathing, a task that helped keep his eyes free of tears. There were too many people around to spend the evening crying, and he was sure that once he started he wouldn't be able to stop.

Ever since learning the news about Claire, Lily had been increasingly desperate to see Gabe. She needed to see him, needed to know how he was handling things - she had an idea, of course. No one handled the death of the person they loved well. But the last few days, she'd been turned away for various reasons. At last it was the viewing. She'd come to pay her respects, of course; she hadn't started to get to know Claire that well until after their abduction, but they'd been friends, and her death hurt. But she was also there to see Gabe.

ain't got a care in the world, but got plenty of beer

Who: Gabe and everyone else that wants to be there!
Where: The lake
When: Late evening

Seeing as how it was halfway through the summer, any reason to have a party was a good one. There'd been nothing big since graduation and the camping trip, and within a few hours the small party at the lake became exponentially bigger. As he'd expected, a text message to a few friends about an open party spread like wildfire. Gabe was willing to bet there was about a hundred people or so, ranging from high school through college. And even though half that crowd wasn't legal to drink, there was no shortage of beer on the premises. Someone was running music from their car stereo, with a bass that had most likely been pimped to ten times it's original set up. There was dancing nearest the car, then people scattered around on blankets and in lawn chairs, drinking and playing games. This was just the kind of celebration that everyone seemed to need.

Delayed Reaction

Who: Gabe and Lily
When: Around 8-ish
Where: Lily's house

The house had been empty when Madock dropped her off, her parents already out getting dinner before their play in Ann Arbor. Lily knew they liked to go out afterwards for dessert and drinks, and her mother had told her not to expect them before midnight. She'd been okay with that while she ate her salad and threw the trash away, and while she'd gone upstairs to check her email and take a shower, and while she sat on her bed in her comfy pajamas trying to tame her blow-dried hair into something that didn't look like a big brown puffball mess.

She was not okay with it when she heard the loud crash near the garage. The noise had her frozen, brush midway through her hair, for a brief moment before diving for her cell and hitting the first speed-dial number that she could bring up - Gabe and Charlotte were numbers one and two, both for proximity to her house and the depth of their friendship. Sitting on the floor, back pressed to the side of her bed and her shoulder against the nightstand, Lily listened to it ring.

Who: Anyone and everyone at the party, especially the guests of honor
When: Around 8:30 PM
Where: The party at the Moriarty house!

The party, in Bram's humble opinion, was a swimming success - and one that would no doubt grace many news medias with the stories - he had people dedicated to making sure that happened.

After his guests had sat down for dinner and taken their meals, Bram smiled faintly and stood smoothly from his chair, glass raised. "If I may have your attention, please," he spoke, his voice pleasing and clear enough to be heard by all. There is just a small matter of business to attend to. )

If the mall's still standing at the end of the day, we'll call it a victory.

Who: Bunny, Lily, Freddie, Charlotte, Katie, Lindy, and Tilly
When: Early afternoon
Where: Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor

Before leaving for the shopping trip, Bunny's mother had given her a list of do's and don'ts, ensuring the fact that Bunny would be leaving with a dress she hated. Oh well. It was still the first real social teenage-like outing she'd had since things had gone to hell, and she was going to try to enjoy herself, dammit. She would have voted shopping districts rather than the mall, but the mall was quicker.

"So where do we want to head first?" Bunny asked, once inside as she jumped up and down to try and shake off some of the rain water. Yes, it got her weird looks; no, she did not care.
