Starfleet's sending us a new science officer. He's part of the team that's been working on the travelers and this whole nebula thing. I hope you'll join me in making him feel welcome. He'll come aboard when we meet up with the USS Temperance tomorrow.

Apologies to those who have been wondering where I've been. I assure you, I did not stay behind on Risa.

Any idea how much longer before I get cleared for regular duty? I'll even consent to using the chair if need be. Although the cane's a better look.

For New Year, I will be hosting a celebrating in the holodeck with lots of alcohol and fireworks for those who wish to attend.

I've taken Pike off active duty, and make sure he stays that way next week, will you? I told him he could keep desk duty. Since I know you tend to let him take personnel off your plate, make sure he doesn't sneak himself back on.

I am decidedly too old for this.

Cookie deliveries are still on, but instead of placing orders through Caroline, you'll have to contact me directly. Prices are the same, too.

Also, if someone is looking for some extra credits, I might have an opening for a runner.

Today I start my 4-day shift on the ship. And Jim's not here to tell me not to sit in his chair. So I'm in his chair. And I like it.

Actually, I think technically I'm the senior-most officer on board and I belong in said chair.

Please, no one contract any diseases from your pleasure seeking over the next four days. Because I won't be there.

I hate colds.

You would think that in the controlled atmosphere of one of these ships, being the Chief Medical Officer, if Starfleet hadn't found a way to control these viruses, I would have. But no. I still got a damn cold.

We haven't even had that many arrivals to blame this on.

I've been checked by a medical professional (me), and I've been cleared as no longer be contagious. So I'll be around the ship again. I even may end up in the lounge. Doctor's orders (again, mine) were no alcohol for a week. It was a bad week. Why did I listen to my primary care physician anyway?

If I have any outstanding work, let me know. Jim, I owe you a report, don't I? Pike, you need a draft of the sex ed lecture, don't you?

It's amazing how quickly time goes by here. I just realized that I've been here almost two months already.

There I was, having some quiet time on the holodeck. It was Clarks Hill Lake, one of my favorite fishing spots in Georgia. It was just me, the dock, my fishing hat, and my fishing pole, enjoying an evening of holo-fish tugging on my holo fishing pole.

Then two of you wahoos turned my dock into a basic training simulator on MY hour.

I'd just caught a big fish. We were having a great battle together, attempting reeling him in. Now I'll never know if I caught him. Or what kind of fish he was.

There are two many people on this ship and not enough holodeck.

Also, hi new people. Don't skip your physicals.

I don't know about anyone else, but I will definitely be checking out Alicia's candy and drink pairing. Maybe that's just an excuse to spend time in the lounge, but I really don't care.

With the Morale teams etc do you have space for a biology scientist/research on any of them? I'm thinking it might be a good way to help out.

Out of curiosity, is the research team studying the patterns of comings and goings on this ship? How many people come and go on which days? It could be worth looking into.

Although I admit that no matter the 'why', it is a bit depressing when so many people leave at once.

Doctor, I wanted to ask you about something that is of a rather sensitive nature.

I've been down in the Arboretum today checking on some of the cuttings I brought back from Fomax. I'm happy to report that they're doing well nad have taken root. I wasn't sure that they would but I managed to duplicate their soil as best I could. Keep your fingers crossed and maybe we'll have some new trees soon.

I'd like to know what languages everyone speaks, if you don't mind.

Here are the ones I'm fluent in: Basic (which I believe is Federation Standard here), Alderaanian, Corellian, Huttese, can understand Shyriiwook, and various others as well.

I've recently been spending some time in the holodeck, working on a program that's very dear to me. If you have any interest in a short tour of a small area Alderaan, though it's not one hundred percent accurate, please let me know.

Do they have scientific cures for hangovers on this boat?

Okay, I guess it's a nice ship. I'd still prefer mine.

As we develop expanded educational and training opportunities, it would be useful to know areas of interest or critical mass. Topics such as acclimating to life on a starship, current technology, and federation history and customs will be covered.
