The clock said it was but a few hours, but it feels like days passed. Many days worth of memories all at once.

I feel like I'm never going to be able to catch up on work, even though I know logically I should, eventually. Maybe next time instead of three weeks, I'll just take one off!

If my calculations are right, Christmas is fast approaching. Do we wish to organise something as a group?

In advance of our stop at Risa, I've been tasked with putting together our accommodations list.

If you could please let me know which type of accommodation you'd like and if you have a preference as to whom you'd like to stay with. I will do my best to accommodate, but we have a limited bank of rooms so not everyone will be placed where they'd like to be.

Your choices:

2-4 people in a bungalow on the water
4-8 people in an inland treehouse
Up to 12 people in a condominium-style residence in the main resort proper

As I am intimately acquainted with Risa from many visits throughout my life times, ask me anything you might not want to ask the Captain. My previous host died there in the arms of a very lovely lady.

He'd say it was worth it.

I hate colds.

You would think that in the controlled atmosphere of one of these ships, being the Chief Medical Officer, if Starfleet hadn't found a way to control these viruses, I would have. But no. I still got a damn cold.

We haven't even had that many arrivals to blame this on.

I've been checked by a medical professional (me), and I've been cleared as no longer be contagious. So I'll be around the ship again. I even may end up in the lounge. Doctor's orders (again, mine) were no alcohol for a week. It was a bad week. Why did I listen to my primary care physician anyway?

If I have any outstanding work, let me know. Jim, I owe you a report, don't I? Pike, you need a draft of the sex ed lecture, don't you?

It's amazing how quickly time goes by here. I just realized that I've been here almost two months already.

It is hard to believe that I have been here a month already.

I don't know if I've met all of you but I'm Helen Cho. At home I was a leading researcher in the field of Genetics as well as a qualified Doctor. I've been approved to work with you in both capacities as required.

In an effort to be more honest, I'll answer any questions asked about me. I reserve the right to pass on questions if I'm not ready to answer them.

It's too early in the morning to be up, and yet, here we are. So if anyone is interested in joining me for breakfast, I have a full breakfast bar set up in the dining area. Make bad choices for your diet alongside me and have your weight in pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, fruits, and coffee, just as life intended for us to feast.

And also to get your brains working before you get here: your favorite song recommendations? I have a lot to catch up on.

You probably already know because you always seem to, but I know I forgot to say something so I'm saying it anyway: Thor and I are together. Again.

I don't remember saying "beam me up, Scotty" today. And yet here I am.

More surprising is the fact that getting beamed anywhere didn't include the Asgard. Not really used to that.

So, uh, hi. I'm Jack. I lead Homeworld Command back on Earth. The Air Force gave me a lot of stars to prove it. This looks like a fine vacation.

How are you settling in? It seems impossible to tear you from your work.

Somehow I got myself leading a team. It's been a while, but I'm itching to get back to experiments and research. You can only stay away for so long without starting to miss it.

What kind of expertise to either of you have on alternate and multiple realities?

Personally, I have friends who live in alternative timelines and I've helped design equipment that can access them, but I'd love to hear what you've encountered.

All Teams

Bruce and I were already doing preliminary work in our spare time. I have data and theories to share, as well as suggestions on recalibrating ship's sensors to better observe what happens with travelers come through the rifts in space-time.

Some of our initial findings were that we could detect nothing all that unusual, not even higher than usual tachyon readings. It may be something we don't usually look for.

Among the theories we've discussed were a self-sustaining energy source and portal from Bruce's world called the Tessaract, and gateways like those of the ancient Iconians. They used to populate this galaxy, using gateways to traverse hundreds or thousands of lightyears at a time. By 100 years from now we'll have discovered two of those gateways. There's also the Guardian of Forever, a gateway capable of taking you to any time period anywhere in the galaxy. That's normally highly classified information but these are special circumstances. Perhaps this phenomena is a similar technology or attempt at duplicating it gone wrong.

There might also be a sentient hand behind it. Someone highly advanced who just wants to mess with people, or the child of an advanced civilization playing with us like toys. Both things have happened to Starfleet crews enough times to be possible in this instance as well.

The other night I recalled reports of pockets of dead space, where time doesn't flow naturally, or at all. Another avenue we should research.

I've gotta say, it feels good to be leading a team again. Almost like being back home.
