Just when you think you've mostly adjusted to life as it is now (in the future, living on a spaceship) something comes out of the blue and reminds you how crazy this all is.
It's March 9th. An ordinary day, no national holiday or religious significance to life on Earth, but 255 years ago I met my husband for the first time. And today, standing in front of the selections in the mess hall, I realized that and felt that awful tug of reality. The reminder that unless he were to somehow magically end up here that I'll never see him again.
And it sucks. It really, really sucks.
