[So the rumor going around town is that Orin Monarch has been seen not once, not twice, but three times in the past two weeks at gay bars around town. At first the rumors were regarded as simply the wishful thinking of the local gay community. But then someone got pictures. And then someone else got pictures. And then someone uploaded a grainy video to youtube, and the shit really hit the fan.
As far as grand plans to destroy reputations go, it's not all that extreme - no, this is closer to the mischievous side of things, personally hilarious to the person making it happen. But who doesn't like a bit of mischief? It's the opening salvo, something fun, something meant to raise his spirits when he opens the paper in the morning while other, darker, more serious plans get underway.
And raise his spirits it does. By Monday morning, most of the tabloids have picked up on the story, and it's begun to circulate to the higher profile trash mags. Blurry but identifiable pictures of Monarch both on the dance floor and shamelessly making out with a gentleman near the men's room of a seedy gay bar explode onto the front pages of the gossip rags, capped with broad, bold print headlines questioning the billionaire's sexuality. Articles also begin to appear about whether his on again, off again fiance Valerie Anna is simply a front for his secret gay love affairs. These articles tend to be damning and as close to libelous as one can get without actually getting into the sort of territory one can be sued for, including pictures of the pair of them that diagram their body language with a level of minute scrutiny that only a true gossip can level at celebrity behavior, reading volumes of information about their lack of chemistry from an out of place arm. By the end of the day Monday, #gaymonarch is a trending hashtag on twitter, and the photos have thousands of notes on tumblr with commentary ranging from the enthralled to the incensed.
