Charity, it's such a nice word. Versatile, useful, makes people feel good about themselves, and if you put your mind to it, you can slap it on anything, really. Pieces frequenters of Cyril's auction house never even catch a glimpse of are being moved out of storage into a location that might not seem to have any need of such items at first glance: Atom, nightclub and strip-joint. Though, if you tilt your head and look again, you might see the very thin and fragile 'art' connection. Squint a little. Squint harder. There you go.

Invitations to the private auction at Atom's One Year Anniversary celebration are extended to Timothy Pecker, Adam Morgenstern, and a handful of other people who know of Mr Bartholomew's extended business activities.

[Public Post]

I'm looking for a shop recommendation, and as I don't know many people (outside of co-workers) in the Seattle area, I figured I would begin here.

I am in need of a suit (nice but not extravagant) for an upcoming business event, and since I haven't had to purchase one since moving here, I'm not quite sure where to start.

The event is science related. Not that that makes a difference what sort of suit a person would wear. But like I said, nice but not extravagant. I know some of my co-workers will just be coming in what they wear to the lab or to teach, but the invitation is printed on a very nice card stock and I've always took that to mean that you should sharpen up a bit (though it's not hand-calligraphed, so a tuxedo is not required - that's how that works, right?). Hence the need for a new suit, because I believe the last one I purchased was several years ago and has since fallen victim to an ill-timed shift, and I'm certain I've heard that fashion changes, even in suits, and oh god, stop talking so I need a new one.

My thanks in advance.

Oh, and since I'm nearly positive I haven't posted here before (though I've lived in the building for a while), my name is Will.

I apologize for Toby's overzealous adherence to the role of "guard dog." I am attempting to break him of such bad habits. Thank you for the gloves. They fit perfectly.

[ Private to E. Eirwen ]

Thank you very much for the sweets. Though I still doubt that dogs understand the concept of festivities and holidays, Toby was very pleased with your gift.

[ Private to T. Pecker ]

While your guidebooks are appreciated, I'm sure you'll find I didn't need them.

I must also ask why you bought me black long pajamas. They seemed out of place when compared with your other gifts.

Ms. Cooper,

My name is Timothy Pecker and I believe we have a mutual friend.  Daryl.  She [...] stayed at my apartment last night.  It is not uncommon for her to break into my apartment, of course, but I am not sure as to why she did so this time.  Would you be able to shed some light on this situation?  I'd be much obliged.

[Note left for Daryl on the counter next to the new espresso machine, Friday morning after he finds her asleep on his couch.]

Daryl,
Hope everything is okay. There's some clothes in the spare bedroom's closet that might fit you, feel free to take whatever you need. There's fresh towels and such in the bathroom as well.

-Tim

P.S. - Break in the new espresso machine, would you?

[Christmas dinner had completely slipped his mind until the bratty cousin called him. Well, the excitement of sailing has worn off and this much sun and sand can't be healthy anyway. Another two odd phone calls later, Cyril makes arrangements to be back in Seattle in time for their family dinner.]

[Text to Marco Valentino]
Word of warning: if the brat's becoming an over-sharing little girl, you'll be charged thrice. Want something from Mexico? Leaving on Tuesday.

MEMO TO SELF AND FORUM AT LARGE. ...Can you call it that? I'm not sure it actually has a size you can quantify in the "bigger than a breadbox" scale. Anyone who knows for sure, let me know.

But anyway. Back to the memo.

Does anyone have a microwave I can borrow? I want to have a Peep joust, but I'm lacking in necessary appliances.

On a related note, don't have them in the oven. It just makes a burnt mess and isn't anywhere near as fun to watch.

On another related note, I apologize to everyone on the 4th floor of Hamartia for the fire alarm. And the smoke. It was in the name of science?

[The message is sent mid-morning on Tuesday (yesterday), the day after this occurs.]

Mr. Pecker,

Thank you very much for your generous gifts. While your riddles were clearly sub-par, I believe that these physical puzzles will require a great deal of my constructive time. Do you know them to be worthwhile from personal experience?

I believe that, in the spirit of this time of year combined with the continuation of our association, it would be appropriate for me to provide us both with a meal in the near future. The last time we spoke, you provided it, and so it is only fair that I take my turn. Please inform me of your preferences for the type of meal and date so that I may accommodate them.

QUESTION.

So I know an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and peanut butter's pretty good at keeping jellyfish at bay, and Skittles distract leprechauns, but what's a good repellent for octopi?

Inquiring minds want to know. Or at least, I do.

It's kind of important.
