DATE: Thursday, August 13, 2009.
BIRTHDAYS: Bunny, Madeleine
WEATHER: A perfect summer day!
EVENTS: Things are… perfectly normal. Things are quiet, nobody has died a horrible and untimely death in the area, and as far as local news goes – well, things are slow. There’s still lots of speculation on angels, but so far, that’s all it is.
Scarlet Oak is gearing up for the start of another school year. Class resumes for Scarlet Oak public schools on August 24th, and the next week could turn out to be a busy one for students. Aside from needing to cram in those last minute summer activities, try-outs and practices for SOHS’s football team runs all next week (the 17th through the 21st), and orientation for new high school students will be on the 21st. Hockey try-outs will be the following weekend.
Scarlet Oak’s annual Riverfest begins tomorrow! There had previously been some speculation on whether or not the festival would go on this year, since Berry Days ended on such a poor note. But as people worldwide are being encouraged to go about their daily lives, the festival is on! Riverfest is a three day festival on the banks (and waters) of Scarlet Oak’s Kiseswa River. There will be BBQs, concerts, games, and water activities. Each day of Riverfest will feature a different race. Friday’s the jet-ski races, Saturday’s the speedboats, and Saturday is sailboats! Entry forms can be found online for those interested in participating.
