DATE: Friday, July 24, 2009.
BIRTHDAYS: None.
WEATHER: Still pouring rain, with no signs of stopping.
EVENTS: Why yes, for those who suspected it, it appears that yesterday
was the calm before the storm. Scarlet Oak’s crime rate has taken a devastating blow.
Half a dozen bodies are in the morgue of unnatural causes, and what’s worse: most – if not all – of them are clear vampire drainings with no attempts at covering it up. Many have been critical of city officials for not responding to the recent crime wave properly. Well, they’re responding now.
Effective immediately, minors of Scarlet Oak are under immediate curfew.
All residents are being strongly advised not to leave their homes for anything other than work, and are advised to do so only in groups if absolutely necessary. Furthermore, any kind of travel on foot is strongly discouraged. Typically, Michigan curfew law for minors states that anyone under the age of 16 may not be out without a guardian between the hours of midnight and 6 AM. This has temporarily been increased in Scarlet Oak, for anyone under the age of 18, and between the hours of 10 PM and 6 AM.
What many may see as the final blow: the remaining days of the Berry Days festival have been canceled, with no word on whether the festival will re-open when things are ‘under control’. The vampire events for the festival are certainly not going to happen.
This whole thing is seen as a calamitous blow to not just vampire rights, but supernatural rights as a whole. Human rights activists are taking this lovely opportunity to generally sit back and go ‘see! See! We told you they were dangerous!’ The other side is just trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces and move from here.
Many are stunned by this action, seeing it for, essentially, a procedure only a few steps away from that adopted during the times of demon attacks. What the hell is happening in Scarlet Oak?
For the next couple of days, all police patrols have been doubled. What’s more, the Scarlet Oak police chief has announced they will be hiring a dozen new officers to cope with the crime wave.
But if you’re looking for a job and police work isn’t your cup of tea, the House of Interest is hiring shopkeepers and sales persons!
