Serious Party is Serious.

Who: Lindy and Bunny
When: Early party
Where: Um. The party?

Bunny. Hated. Her stupid dress. It was black and boring and thoroughly Mother Approved. She'd put in a few personal touches, like her bunny dogtag and camera ring, and had even won the fight with her mother to bring her bunny messenger bag, but she was pretty sure she was gonna hear about it later.

Hey, she had to smuggle the camera in somehow.

The fancy invitations had not properly prepared her for the enormity of this place, and once inside, Bunny felt like they'd entered a castle. Hell, the place almost looked like a castle on the outside. "Silly us, we forgot our tiaras and fairy wings," she murmured to Lindy, now happier than ever her friend had come along. I smell birds. That was going to end up driving her insane before the night was over, she just knew it.

Our Cardboard Box

Who: Claire and Gabe
Where: On the way to the party
When: Evening

Claire was ready for the dinner at the Moriarty's. At least, she figured she was. She knew most of the girls invited had gone out to get dresses, but Claire didn't feel comfortable in a dress, and the last time she'd worn one was for prom, and even then her mom had to talk her into it. She was fully planning on getting away with dress pants and a blouse until her mom saw her and insisted - again - on shoving Claire into a dress. It wasn't anything fancy, just a simple, black dress that skimmed her knees and showed way too much cleavage, but Claire figured Gabe wouldn't mind it too much. She had a red cardigan to wear if she got cold, but that was already on and she doubted it would come off. After she'd tried her hair up and put on heels - another major annoyance of hers - Claire stepped outside to wait for Gabe to pick her up. If she was lucky, they could get in, eat and leave without anyone noticing much.

Claire didn't want to be 'honored' for whatever bravery these people thought she had, and she certainly didn't want to answer questions about what had happened either. It still gave her nightmares, and it still hurt her stomach when she thought about everything. Adding some wine and an expensive entree to the mix wasn't going to make that any better.

All These Things That I've Done

Who: Graham and Jezebelle
When: Late evening
Where: Wandering about Scarlet Oak

While he was enjoying Autumn's hospitality so far, Graham was happy to have escaped her cozy cottage for the night and take a much needed walk. Detroit was quite the clusterfuck, to say the least, and in some ways Graham wondered if they were all better off not going. Sighing roughly, he broke out his pack of blacks, brought one to his lips, and briskly lit it up. At least he had some place to call home temporarily. While he loved Autumn's home, he couldn't help but feel out of place. Graham had grown up not used to such luxuries, thus explaining why he felt far more at ease on the streets.

He wasn't sure where he was going. Hell, he never did with life in general. At some point he was walking down the streets of downtown only to stop and gaze at the random passerbys. Wednesday wasn't really bustling night for anything. Was a horrible night to go out clubbing or drinking, not to mention many band gigs avoided it as well. As far as he was concerned there was nothing for him to do. Eventually he came to pause at a large, rundown brick building and leaned against the structure, slowly finishing off his cigarette. As he eyed the burning end, he contemplated having another and whether or not he should've headed back to Autumn's place soon.

Meeting the boss

Who: Galen and Domina
Where: The Moriarty Party
What: Talking some shop and meeting clientele

Galen wouldn’t have said the thready pulse in his belly had anything to do with nerves. If it was nerves he would have been familiar with a sudden clench and twist just inside, barely beneath the flat of his stomach, a wrenching pull that tweaked the air from his lungs. That was nerves. This was something else entirely. As he got out of his car, Galen took a moment to fully drink in the hugeness of the Moriarty estate – all hung yellow globes, ballroom gowns, and the firefly flicker of wealth – and realized what he was feeling was a cancerous knot of guilt.

Oh fuck me flat, I don’t have time for the angst, he thought irritably, squashing all thoughts of Lucy’s disappointed face and tucking them away for later perusal. Galen tossed his keys to the chauffer. He could fret about his sister later when he had time to wring his hands and do the worried brother bit properly. For now, he had a sex saleswoman to track down. )

Making Plans of the Sibling Kind

Who: Jessalyn, Claire, and Madock
When: Evening
Where: The Moriarty's.

It was a night Jessalyn hadn't really been expecting. She had dressed up in a simple white maxi dress with pearl beads on the bodice that she'd made herself ages ago. Her hair was curly and pinned up to keep it from getting in her face and she wore simple ballet slippers since she wasn't a fan of any shoe with a heel. Everyone looked really pretty and handsome around her though, and she had been enjoying herself the best she could while dealing with the sights and sounds. Dinner had been somewhat of a surprise, receiving money from Mr. Moriarty simply because she had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. While it was a really lovely gesture, she felt strange taking money from a stranger, even if it would help with school, but she wasn't going to be rude and decline it or anything. That might have hurt his feelings, and Jessalyn certainly didn't want to do that.

The Possibility of Mentoring

Who: Day and Christian
When: Afternoon
Where: Their backyard

Christian had been meaning to talk to Day about Artemis and the time he'd had with her, but something was always in the way. Whether they be in the middle of dinner when it crossed his mind, or he'd be out with Hayden or doing sets, something always had a way of getting into the way. This time when he thought of the girl, he was at home, petting Madeline and Day was out back. "Yes!" he said as he leapt up from the bed, practically flinging Madeline onto the mattress.

Now that was entirely uncalled for. she huffed. Still, she hopped down from the bed and followed along after the boy. Like she'd just let him walk away when she was getting those pettings. Yeah right.

Making his way into the backyard, letting Madeline get out the door before he shut it, Christian walked over to where Day was sitting with Novitas. "I met an air elemental." he told his brother. "She's a master."

Common Bond

Who: Nic and Avizeh
When: Early evening
Where: the party at the Moriarty house!

Avizeh had been rather stunned to get an invitation to a party at the Moriarty house, considering it arrived within days after she herself got to Scarlet Oak. Apparently her upcoming film was generating more buzz than she thought. She had very nearly declined, cited jet lag or moving exhaustion, but ultimately decided that Bram Moriarty was not a man she wanted to say no to. So she'd bought a dress, a cascading, Grecian-inspired gown of soft gathered fabric and keyholes in front and back in a deep rosey hue, and geared up for a party. This involved reading up on the young adults it was honoring, and after doing so, she was truly glad she had decided to attend.

Once there, she truly wished she had dragged her cousin. There was nothing worse than being at a party full of strangers - and in a strange land, at that. Once inside, Avizeh put on a brave face, and began making her rounds around the room.

Nic wasn't entirely sure what he was doing at the party. As a member of the Scarlet Oak police force, he'd been invited, even though he'd done little to actually track the children down. Since he wasn't on duty that evening, he'd been required to attend, which left him feeling a bit like he should receive some kind of overtime pay. Socializing with the big wigs in town had never been on his agenda. At least there was free liquor, otherwise he might have been halfway out the door upon arrival.

With one drink down and another in his hand, Nic was feeling a bit more relaxed and willing to talk to some of the faces that surrounded him. Least threatening was a woman standing alone, and Nic decided to stop by and say hello. She seemed familiar, though he couldn't say where from. "Evening," he said with a little nod. "Enjoying the party?"

And a refreshing outlook. )

Like a fish out of water.

Who: Cedric and Morrigan
Where: The party
What: Trying to figure out why they're there

Ravyn had gone off to make new friends and he was glad for it. She needed to have people in her life that weren't just him and Balin. It had to be hard, given that school was out and she wouldn't begin classes until the fall. He didn't envy her at all. At least, as an adult, he'd had other ways to meet people and better excuses to be on his own. Dinner was over and he was milling about, searching for a familiar face. He'd only been in the emergency room for a few hours that day, covering someone who was sick. And yet that seemed to warrant him a party invitation.

Finally, a flash of red hair drew his attention. Someone he knew! "Morrigan, hello," he said, smiling at her as a server passed by with glasses of champagne. He took two and held one out to her. "Can I offer you a drink?" It felt silly, being all dressed up like this, like they were in a terrible James Bond movie or something. "Still haven't quite figured out what I'm doing here, but my sister seems to be having fun.

Let's Put Our Dancing Shoes On

Who: Amelia and Open
Where: Moriarty Party
When: 7 pm and on

When Amelia entered the party she was a mass of nervous and excitement. She almost felt like things were leading up to this evening and she just hoped it went well. Dancing, chatting and fun. What more could she ask for right now? She felt great in her dress. It wasn't a new one, like she suspected many of the other attendees would have, but a dress she'd had for years but had only had one other opportunity to wear. All dressed up and excited she wear ready to mingle. She looked around the room, keeping her eyes peeled for familiar face and let out breath. She tried to follow Ben's advice and let her worries leave her with that breath.
