[info]dreamofblood in [info]light_of_may

carrying the wrong blood

Who: Derrick and Jaladhi
When: Ten p.m. or so
Where: Somewhere between the trailer park and the rest of town

Derrick hadn't ever been the sort of man to think about the consequences of his actions. If he wanted to do something then he'd do it and deal with whatever happened after with no thoughts given to prevent it. Like tonight he had walked to the trailer park, certain that his curse would've at least triggered on Elaine and she would be all but desperate to take him back and ever so sorry for everything. Between the curse and the dreams what else could she do? But Derrick hadn't thought about how it had been raining when he had laid the uncertain as it was line down, or that Elaine hadn't been hung up on the dreams he sent but pushing them away while she went out drinking or slept at that Natalisa's house. Natalisa. It was a horrible name that grated on every last nerve he had and he just wanted to tear it apart. Logically he'd have known that what happened hadn't been her fault. He'd known Elaine for long enough to know that this was a thing she did and that it didn't happen because of the blonde. But he wasn't being logical. He wanted something to blame and he'd decided that, in addition to Elaine, it was Natalisa.

He'd been lingering in the trailer park for far too long -- the car had been left because he didn't want Elaine to glance out and suspect that he was there -- but she hadn't been there. God only knew where she was or what she was doing or if anything he'd done was working... Standing here wasn't getting him anywhere. Laying down curses he couldn't stay and watch work or fail because he kept falling asleep. After the third time he'd jolted awake leaning against a tree he'd admitted to himself that it was probably definitely time to head home. Before he wound up with a faceful of dirt and Cow licking at the back of his neck while Elaine toed at him like he was roadkill. Only she wouldn't! He seriously didn't know her a quarter as well as he thought he did if he believed that. Sulking, Derrick toyed with the vials of blood in his pocket that he'd meant to use near Elaine tonight. Leif's blood, water elemental and psychic... Derrick thought it'd serve the trick. He pulled the vial out and rolled it between his fingers as he walked, completely unconcerned with his surroundings. Yeah there were demons and angels and whatever other beasties people could be afraid of, but he was a witch and he wasn't afraid of anything.

He shouldn't have been so cocky.
