You have something I want

Who: Madeleine and Ulysses
Where: Madeleine's home
When: Morning

Ulysses had been surprised when there was a bouquet of flowers outside his door with that simplistic message. Someone out there loved him? Really? No one was even supposed to know that he was there yet and someone was proclaiming that he was loved. Wasn't that just a lovely little welcome to this quaint town where vampires drained people and demons tore things apart. Really, wouldn't black roses with a note foretelling his certain doom at the hand of a blood-crazed vampress from the 14th century or a demon eager to rend his flesh after being trapped in the fiery pits of hell more suited? Or maybe these people just didn't know what kind of message their town was sending out. Clearly it was a pathetic little motion by the welcoming committee since no one else knew him and Ulysses decided to do the most reasonable thing about it. He'd save them and take them to Circe when he decided the moment was right to say hello. The oddest peace offering ever given when one considered the relationship that wasn't really there.

Not this morning though. No, this morning he was tracking down one of the little trinkets that had caught his eye when he was perusing the local paper over his coffee. One Madeleine Gray - a name that tickled his memory vaguely for some reason - was selling a wonderfully put together ship-in-a-bottle that had to be at least several decades old. Not quite old enough to be an antique yet but it would get there. And before it did, Ulysses decided that he wanted to own it. No better way than going right to the source. Phone conversations were so droll. So he drove up to the proper house and straight his shirt before knocking on the door. Hopefully Madeleine wasn't away because that'd make his visit a little different. He was getting that ship. The owner didn't have to be there for that to happen.
