[VIMH] 33 - Makes you stronger.

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not?

To me it depends on the person and what was done. I know most assume that say someone was in an accident and they lost their legs the person was made weaker. That can be both true and false. Truth comes from if the person gives up and resigns themselves to just being a cripple. That they in essence give up like nothing can ever be right in their life again. Then there are the people who even if they lost their legs they don't let it get them down. They just fight harder to live a life. They refuse to let that stop them from living a life.

I'd also like to think that what my team sees in our line of work makes them stronger. That even if the scene is disturbing it pushes them harder to get the job done. That it forces them to see a bigger picture that assists in finding the clues needed to try and put the person away. I know the job is hard especially when even after all our work the person gets away with it. I'm proud of my team that even that doesn't get to them.

I can both agree and disagree but it does depend on the mind set of the individual and how they allow things to effect them. Everyone is different.

Prompt #23 - Afterlife

Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what do you expect to find when you get there?

I'm not able to say I believe in an afterlife. Most religions do have their version of such whether it be heaven, hell, or the Elysian Fields, but I am a man of science. There is no scientific proof of such existing. Maybe some will call me a man of no faith, some may see me as an atheist, but I need proof of something. It's how I work and those who know me well enough can see that.

Maybe in a perfect world we should all have faith in something more past death. Some would think it was the normal thing to do. Me however? I don't have time to sit and wonder whether the victims have gone to heaven or hell. I don't have time to wonder where their souls have laid to rest. My job is to focus on the crime. To focus on the body and the scene of the crime to try and find who took the person's life. My faith lays in my team and the job they do to gather evidence. To piece the puzzle together to find the suspect. To set a victim's family at ease and give them closure and justice.

When a case is over do I have time to wonder whether they went to a good place or a bad place? No because in the City That Never Sleeps there is always a murder to solve. Science gives me something to focus on, my job gives me a purpose.

Prompt #22 - Letter to the Mun

JJ,

I want to thank you for allowing me to occupy your head space with so many others. You allow me to speak and let me dictate to you how I want things done. I know you will never try forcing me into anything I may not want. I trust you to know what's best.

I would like it if you kept letting me take control. I know you are coming in here fresh with me from what you are used to with LJ, but together we'll figure this out. See where we will go and see what people we meet and see if old friends might pop up.

Keep up the good work JJ.

Prompt #21 - Maya Angelou Quote

"There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you." - Mayay Angelou

There are always the cases that get to you. The ones that got away. I have many of those. Though the cases that get to me the most are the ones that there just seem to be no clues for. The one that no tale can be told to find the suspect. Ones where the victim's families get no peace, no closure. Those are the cases I hate, I do not like not being able to solve a case. Those are the cases that go on the board, the ones some call bottom drawer cases. Ones you hope someday something will help tell those stories. That they finally get their voices heard. So they can finally rest in peace.

Me personally I do not like having to put a case on the board. I'd rather solve every case. No family should have to go without knowing who or even why they had to suffer. Everyone deserves closure.

Prompt #1 - Who are you?

My name is Gil Grissom. Night supervisor for the Las Vegas Police crime lab. There really is not much to tell, or rather. Not much I tend to share. I am by nature a private man. I am a forensic entomologist, I study bugs in relation to crime scenes. Sometimes they can give you the answer nothing else can.

I enjoy my work. I speak for the victims that cannot speak for themselves. The dead. Someone needs to speak for them. I have a good team in place. They work well together. I've tried to teach them to look for the smallest detail, to look closer then most.

I may reveal more about myself later on. Time will tell.
