27: look in your heart

If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear? - Confucius

They call me evil.

Well, okay, I call me evil too. But hang with me, ok? I'm making a point.

They call me evil because my goals conflict with theirs. Yeah, sure, world domination sounds pretty bad at first blush, but who says the world wouldn't be better with me running it? I've read the Evil Overlord list. I know that the best way to run an Evil Empire is to make the peons happy.

Ruling the world just for the hell of it would get boring fast. But ruling the world to fix the puzzle of humanity's amazing ability to fuck itself up, well, that'd be a hell of a project. And if I can fix it... well, why would that be a bad thing?

Prompt 27

If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear? - Confucius

You're kidding me right?

First off no one can say that nothing is wrong in their hearts. Anyone who does is lying or in need of a shrink more than I am.

But let's say that there's nothing wrong with you. The rest of the world is screwed up enough to cover it. Demons, ghosts, you know- the shit that tries to kill you? Unless you're packing major heat, they would scare anyone.

Y'know that's not even the right question to ask. It should be “what to do about your fears?” But whatever man. That's just what I think.

Prompt 27

If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear? - Confucius

Ignorance.

Really, should this even have to be explained? If you look into your heart and find nothing wrong there, then either you are not looking hard enough, or you have no heart at all. No-one, not even the Valar, the gods themselves, have pure, flawless hearts.

And that is all I can think of to say about this.

Isn't that called your conscience?

I reckon if you find yourself looking into your heart, you already know something's wrong. And if you tell yourself it's all good when you know it isn't...

Well I've been on the end of that myself. You can lie to others, I know I have, but you're stupid to lie to yourself. It gives you a bad stomach and a miserable life.

What's there to fear? Whatever it is you're lying to yourself on.

Jack was the master of that. He lied to everyone so often I don't think even he knew what the truth was anymore.

If you do look into your heart and see nothing wrong, well either you're doing real well or you're a maniac.
