At this point in time, the Year of Our Lord 2007? The roughly 25 billion gold ducats Italy owes me. But that is immaterial, I'm afraid. And I've been told to keep my demands ( realistic. )

What do I want?

Such a question should be met with laughter. Before the end of the world, it would have been met with laughter. Now...

Now, I am not sure.

Kay and Lyla are near inseparable as they wander the garden at will. The garden responds to them almost as well as it responds to Lilith. Slowly, I am learning more of her magic, and it may be that it is this which is guiding the answer to this question.

A few nights past, an arch appeared here and turned into a doorway. It was followed by an envelope addressed to me. An envelop which contained a key. Perhaps it is time that I want to see where this door leads.

A stiff drink? No, there's been too much of that lately. Far too much.

For once, I think I'd like leave that is actually leave. Whenever I get a week off, I spend five of seven days chasing ne'er-do-wells. This hotel is only a small variation from the norm. There's some mystery here, I have no doubt of that. Whether it is a nefarious mystery or not is beginning to plague me. And Anakin apparently hearing my dead Master's voice... How does that saying go? No rest for the wicked? If so, haven't I earned a lay about?

Perhaps Anakin himself is the crux of the matter. Whatever this is, it can't be healthy. For us to spend so much time together, to spend every waking minute in each other's company--it is as if we are connected at the frontal lobe. In some ways, we are. When his Padawan braid was severed, our training bond was not, at my discretion no less. I couldn't stand the thought of... I don't know what I couldn't stand. I don't want to think of it.

I don't want to think of the few times he does slip away from me. I am not blind, except with jealousy. If he would only talk to me. I can conjecture, I can suspect, but until he confirms what I think it all means nothing. Yet if he needs her, well...

The Old Man asked me to look after him. When have I ever denied Anakin anything he needed?

Now this is not an easy question to answer. There are so many things I want, and not so many of them are material things, not many of them are even possible. I think what I want the most, is simply that things had been different. If Morgoth had never existed, then the Trees would not have been destroyed, nor my grandfather murdered, nor the Silmarils stolen. There would have been no Oath, no exile to Beleriand, no Kinslayings. I would still be living in Valinor with the rest of my family, my father and brothers and cousins still alive.

And Findekano.

I want him back, most of all. My brothers too, (yes even grumpy Moryofinwe, who didn't like anybody), but what I want the most is to have my cousin back; to have once again the happiness we shared in those long, warm summers in the hills of Himring.

Oh no, I’m not sure what I could possibly want that I don’t have now. I’m famous, wealthy, respected. I practically run the fashion industry for both mere mortals and Supers. I outfit half of Hollywood and most of the NSA, so I have all the work I could ever want. I am sought after, in demand, so I can pick and choose what I want to work on. I have an abundance of clients, fans, and friends. I have everything. Really, darling, what more could I ask for?

I want a hot cabana boy that’s shirtless and dressed in leather pants to bring me tall cool drinks with swizzie sticks in them as I sit on a white sandy beach under a tropical sun.

I want to dance the night away in some club in a nameless city with a lot of nameless men.

I want to spend hours in a smoky biker bar, playing pool and having fun.

I want to hike through the mountains of China, discovering places I’ve never been.

I want to steal the Hope Diamond to say I could.

I want to take my Harley and ride on 101 along the California coast.

I want to see Lenny Kravitz in person again and watch him make love to the guitar. The man’s amazing.

I want to see the Seven Wonders of the World. The old list not the new one because seriously… the Christ statue?

I want to spend a day snowboarding in Tignes, France.

What do I want? Oh, that's easy. Complete and total domination of the world. Yeah, it's no Miss America answer, but I'm not really the Miss America type. I can't walk in heels for shit, for one thing. The only kind of world peace I'm interested in is the kind that exists because all of humanity is united under my iron (or at least leather-clad) fist.

That's really all I could ask for. Well, that and the destruction of my enemies. Or at least them saying they were sorry they'd ever opposed me. That'd be pretty cool.

And just between you and me, electronic journal, it'd be nice if a certain somebody called me something other than "worm" once in a while. And if maybe I had some real friends instead of everybody, good or evil, just trying to get in a laugh at my expense.

But I'll settle for world domination.

Honestly, I'm not sure.

I'd like that new pair of Prada shoes I saw in the store, or the Victorian Romantic tarot deck I saw at Simply Magick. I'd like when I think back on my childhood, it doesn't hurt like you're running your hands along broken glass.

The one thing I want the most, is the one thing thats (unintentionally) hurt me the most, and its something I don't think I'll ever have.

If you had asked me this before graduation, I would have had a different answer. I would have wanted Nathan to have his dream of playing for the Blue Devils. Sometimes fate has a way of giving you what you need instead of what you want. I don't want anything. Nathan has a scholarship at a college to play basketball. He'll be coached by Whitey and Lucas. It wasn't what he'd always dreamed about, but it's perfect for us.

What do I want? Nathan to be happy, my son to be healthy, my friends to get everything they want. As for myself, I'd like that killer keyboard I saw in the music shop.
