My name is Ianto Jones. I was born and raised in Wales. There was nothing really special about my childhood. I got good marks and did well enough on my A-levels that I was able to attend Cambridge.

After university, I was able to get a job with a company in London. It was there I met Lisa. I fell in love with her and amazingly she fell in love with me. I wish I could say we were living happily ever after, but she passed away about the same time the branch of the company we worked for went under.

I had no desire to stay in London afterwards, so I transferred to Cardiff. I have a variety of responsibilities there and they seem to be growing everyday. My job is my life, it keeps me busy, so I don’t have much time for anything else.

Sometimes, I am not quite sure I know. There are times when I feel completely confident in knowing who I am, then the following morning it is as if it was all somehow a lie, an illusion put over me, and I am too suspicious to believe anymore. At least, until the next day.

Most of my memories up until the last few hundred years are gone, worn away like the rock in the river that can never quite move from the pool at the bottom, slowly the deep water smoothing out the rough edges until the original shape is all but forgotten.

I know sometimes I was happy, sometimes I was sad. I suffered, very much, but then there were times when I did not. I know a long time ago, when the air was thicker and warm, and the sun a slightly different color, I and others went to a place with insects as large as my head, and rats as large as a cat. I was poisoned, and it was one of the most miserable few months I ever experienced in several centuries.

I know I had a mother and a father that I loved. That I had things such as duty and honor. That we were grey cloaked and knew little of men and their minds. I was moved to live as what people today would call a political prisoner, raised under the watchful eyes of a forest-lord to ensure his safety and the safety of the people of my family. It was unpleasant, but sometimes peaceful. They kept track of the children with bells like a dog, they would braid them into our hair and in our clothes, but this only trained us to move silently. We all became the best Rangers.

Who am I?

That is an interesting question, and one that deserves some serious thought and not the mere navel gazing that some would indulge in when answering such a question.

Let me see.

I have been called Ambrogino Giovanni. By my parents, of course, and through extension, my family.

I have been called an arrogant bastard, again by my parents and family, in addition to friends, acquaintances, enemies, and meals.

I have been called any number of synonyms for the Devil himself, and while flattered, I do hope to aspire to more than that sad gentleman has achieved.

I have been called a victor by my conquests and associates.

I have been called insufferable by my conquests and associates.

I have been called brilliant, mad, visionary, unbalanced, egotistical, and deranged. See the above for those who have called me such.

Yet, none of those things truly address who I am.

I shall tell you who I am, if you will allow me the conceit to paraphrase an august voice which thundered across the skies and set time in motion - if such tales are to be believed.

My name is Gil Grissom. Night supervisor for the Las Vegas Police crime lab. There really is not much to tell, or rather. Not much I tend to share. I am by nature a private man. I am a forensic entomologist, I study bugs in relation to crime scenes. Sometimes they can give you the answer nothing else can.

I enjoy my work. I speak for the victims that cannot speak for themselves. The dead. Someone needs to speak for them. I have a good team in place. They work well together. I've tried to teach them to look for the smallest detail, to look closer then most.
