Love is a complicated word with many meanings. One has love for a flower, or the craftsmanship of a sword, or the beauty of a moon rise. There is love between friends, or family, or lovers, or companions in a profession. There is love for a war-brother, and love for a strange people that woke long after us. Ambarussa described this love like the love had for a small furry animal, or a dog, it is a beloved hound "But not Quendi" yet still treasured and protected and loved and treated with as much care and firmness of hand as one might have for a child. But still, a small furry animal. We did see them for the most part as a simpler creature, incapable of culture and language and other things, and it was a while before we could break that idea of ourselves. It is quite a lot of trouble to see past that kind of feeling, when you see them live for so little a time, barely longer than hounds of valinor. This is probably why Findarato was so popular. It is not a prejudice between skin colors as I have found among atani (and this is very silly), or a divided peoples, we may be able to interbreed but we still ever had a very hard time accepting them, though we eventually found a way, to a point. The unions between our women and their men helped. Yes we were deeply prejudiced, I won't apologize for that. So are atani, possibly even more obsessed with 'Them against Us' than we were.

Nelyafinwe. I should explain part of what it is that is my love for Nelyafinwe. It is something that means part of myself is always outside of my 'body' or my sense of 'self' and is him, and I feel that all of the time. It means if he refused to speak to me for a thousand years and broke every pen I sent and burned every sheet of paper, I would still love him just as much as before. I have had him break most of the bones in my upper body at one point or another (portraits done by people who never have seen me, are quite inaccurate in giving me an unbroken nose), all kinds of things thrown in my direction, been reviled and called things that do not bear repeating, and I think he actually has stabbed me a few times but that was after Thangorodrim and he was hallucinating quite a bit before we could leech most of the poisons (of many forms) from him and it wasn't anything serious.

He is my Nwalmenya. I can't imagine myself existing without his presence, as long as I know he is then I do. I am told that love is blind, maybe it is, I would follow him even were I blinded. I did actually, if you read the history books. Of course, I have a sense of preservation (which really only means I don't like dying) and there are limits, I would not stand there and bear the brunt of his storm, but I could never hold the destruction against him and I will always tell him when he is being an idiot and slap him back into coherency if it is possible. What is a loved one for, if not to tell us the things we do not want to hear but need to hear all the same?

We hurt each other, scream and throw things and say terrible things at each other, but that has never taken away from what is between us.

Gads. You people ask some really difficult questions, don't you?

Love. Love makes you do incredibly stupid things for good reasons, and really smart things for bad ones. It's embarrassing and awful and wonderful all at once.

Profound? Maybe. It's better than Willow's "Love makes you do the wacky."

Such a fragile emotion...

Love is like water; it changes its shape to match its container.

It is harsh and cruel and bittersweet. It will tear you apart in your quest to love someone, even if they hurt and despise you.

It is also kind and caring; it will always be there and depend upon you like you depend upon them.

It will never leave and it will haunt your soul forever.

I think love is a wonderful thing. It’s glorious and painful and addictive and it forces you to feel. To be loved is like being wrapped in a big warm blanket, an expensive one. Love is comforting and to live without it in some form would be like existing as an empty husk. How very bleak indeed.

I have never loved nor been loved romantically (although, I suspect Pansy Parkinson harboured more than a little crush). I haven’t had much time for romance –what with trying to plot, scheme, survive a war, kill people and other such frivolities.

I do love my parents, though, with all my heart (yes, I do have one), and everything I did during my sixth and seventh years at Hogwarts, I did for them, for us. I was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of my family. I was prepared to lose my soul; and I don’t mean to the Dementors.

What are your thoughts on love?

Had I been born 100 years earlier, perhaps my views on love would be different. Jedi were told that love was forbidden. This belief always confused me. As a Jedi, I look for ways to help others. I offer advice. I give of myself to perform anything I can to protect and save lives. This is the love a Jedi shares for those they do not know. There are ways to balance being a Jedi and loving another intimately, the same as anyone would balance their professional and private lives. Sharing love with a beloved is one of the ultimate expressions of life and connection within the Force. I could not imagine my life without the daughter this love has brought to me. I would never give up this part of myself.

Love? Oh god. I haven't been asked that in ages. I'm more than old enough to rarely be bothered about that. Who wants to know about the romances of a crotchety old woman? True, I was young once, but that was years ago. I was married to my work, darling, and I still am. No, I had no time for love of anything but my career, my life's work, my calling. Certainly, yes, I had gentlemen friends, but that is all they were. No, no stories of moonlit walks or bouquets of roses and daisies or anything like that. So sorry to disappoint.

No, love was always something very different to me. Love does not necessarily equal “romance”, you know; just as romance does not necessarily equal “love”. I love many people in many ways, but I'm not in love with any of them. It is because I love them that I want to protect them as best I can, which is why I have no great love for capes.

Have I never loved? Of course I have, weren't you listening, darling? Personally? No. No, it was never a concern for me. Do I regret it? I really wouldn't know, now would I? How can I comment on something in which I've no experience?

It's a myth.

Love goes hand in hand with loss for me. Everyone I've loved, I've lost. If I were a smart man, I'd swear it off, but love is far too precious to give up. I don't go looking to fall in love, when it happens it happens. Then I just hold on and go along with it until the eventual loss

I wouldn't be anywhere without love in my life. Or should I say, I wouldn't be anywhere without the loves of my life in my life. Yeah, I know what you're saying, she's the Queen of Hell why would she need love? Or - I thought evil can't love. I've never been your typical evil witch.

First there is Dom. He is my everything. The life experiences that I've experienced with him, the demon fighting that we did together before we both turned, the intimacy and the claiming has all shaped me to who I am today. Needless to say, I couldn't have gotten to where I am without him in my life. He is everything that I'm not and more. But, because of those differences we balance each other out. Dom has been there for me through it all, and although we've had our problems we continue to grow and love each other more with each passing day.

Then there is Scott. He's been my best friend since I was three. We've been through everything with each other. We protected and helped each other through some of the roughest times. He is everything that I've ever wanted in a man and more. He's my best friend, lover, confidant and protector.

It has made me so happy that the two men could find happiness with each other as well. They seem to work off each other quite well and have grown to love each other as much as they love me.

A little sentimental, right? So sue me.

No offense but you're very nosy. I'm serious, why do you want to know that? Its a topic I don't have time for. If I had been born normal maybe I would think about it. But as it stands? I'm busier making sure not to come home in a crate. Or a million pieces scraped into a small box which is the more likely of the two options. Exorcists don't last very long on average, especially when they might be marked to be deleted by the Earl. So really, love? Not interested. Family? Never got it. Foster family? Temporarily had it. Possibility of having a happy family? More likely to be in a coffin before I hit twenty two. Romantic happy things? ...I once thought about them when I was small enough to not see reality. Then master promptly smacked it out of me with a small, round, black hammer. Repeatedly.
