That love is greater and deeper and stronger than everything, that it overcomes all? That it outlasts betrayal and death, and the thousand niggling torts we accrue in the course of a lifetime? The poets make it out so. Lost is the theme on which my fancy fed, and turned to mourning my once tuneful lyre: thus Petrarca pined for Laura, and Dante for his Beatrice."

He shrugs. "But our be-laureled poets had it easy, their gentle ladies never being more than meek and faithful statues. Metaphorical monuments to... an ideal. Where's the challenge in loving a saint, where the achievement?" Looking around the room for Miquel, Cesare sits up straighter, his voice growing angrier. "For, tell me, how do you love someone unconditionally who torments and hurts you? Who breaks your heart, or your bones, or both? What if your love is trespassing, and not wanted? Tell me. Will it stay unconditional, or rather turn into a festering sore that poisons what was pure, transforming a once noble heart into a crabbed and withered lump?"

It takes a moment for him to compose himself, the space of a few breaths before he's ridden out the pain. "Just look into your soul," he says at last, sounding defeated, "and tell me I am wrong, I beg you."

What do I want to accomplish? I want to make sure justice is done. As much as I can. Justice isn't all about the law as its written but by what's right. Like when you know some villain done the deed but you couldn't get enough on him. We hound him day and night till we do get enough. Its due to the people they hurt. Those poor souls couldn't do anything themselves so its up to us to see right's done by them.

Jack would manufacture if he had to but I can't. I do it straight up so there's never a chance of the bastards getting away.

It's more important that the weak have someone to stand up for them than it is for me to have what I want. There's more of them than me and well, I have the skills to help so I have to.

I wish I could have a family, like I used to, but that don't seem to be in the cards or I had my chance and its done, so now I have to concentrate on what I can do and that's helping catch villains.

It's time to forget about the past
To wash away what happened last --

Forgetting the past is easier said than done. The Delacroixs are survivors above all else,so we adapt to circumstances. None of this means we've forgotten the past or that we've passively accepted anything that has happened thus far. Positioning yourself to be in a position to your advantage isn't the same thing as agreeing or accepting things without question.

Fighting back and trying to change the world is all well and good,but if one cannot fix what's right in front of them, what's the point?

Still...what's done is done. No one can take back the past,but as I said before,the winds of change have arrived in the most unusual disguise possible. I've done whatever I can to remain in power and make life as comfortable as possible for me and my family. However, it may not be necessary to lead a life of secrecy and quiet any longer.

I'm extremely eager to see how things play out, as well as just how much things change. I might not be a fighter or engage in vigorous activity,but don't mistake my resistance to fighting as weakness. Everyone who's ever underestimated me can tell you just what happens when you do. Manipulating everyone and everything around you is always far more interesting than losing your cool,displaying your weaknesses and showing the world just who you are and what you're capable of,not to mention entertaining. ;)

Mind? Why on earth would I possibly mind,now that the time of reckoning is upon us?

Everyone who ever thought they knew who they were and where they stand are in for quite a surprise. Your past is catching up with your present and if you all knew what was good for you,you'd do everything in your power to keep your head where it is,lest you face the fire upon your day of judgment. Believe me....it's not going to be pretty. >:D

Those impudent little shits honestly thought they'd won. Being king of the mountain doesn't change the fact that outside of the mountain, no one knows or wants you. ;)

Poor,poor lower beings...if you all had any idea,just where I've been,you wouldn't be wasting your last few precious breaths reading this. I've never been foolish enough to stop destiny from unfolding the way it was always meant to,so why wouldn't I make sure that the spoils went to all the victors,including me?

Even those who seem to believe they've gotten what they felt they deserved shouldn't be so comfortable. After all,it's quite lonely at the top. When you fall,it's a tumble you won't be forgetting anytime soon.

I suppose I should be happy; the wheels of fate and turn and the winds of change are upon us. However,despite the fact that many auspicious portents are within our grasp,no one knows what the outcome will be.

If I had to apologize,it would be for not taking greater care to ensure the outcome I desired most. If I had the chance, I would do it all again and this time, things would be different. It matters not,for soon enough I'll be placed to the test.

What do you hope to accomplish in this life?

Isabel is a very deadly enemy to have.

If she's not in a feeding frenzy, which are rare as she does have a strong sense of self-control, Isabel has and will kill to protect herself, her own interests, and for those she loves. In the course of doing her familial duty, she will also have people killed to underline a point, as death doesn't defeat the purpose of that when the wayward soul is chained into servitude as a wraith.

How would it happen? Isabel's preferred method is poison, although she is not adverse to using swords or guns if called to. Oh, and we can't forget exsanguination. She also will use trusted ghouls to eliminate those who need to be eliminated, generally whilst she has an iron-clad alibi at her disposal.
