It was nice to be home for the Fourth, even if it's not home-home. Last night's party stirred up a lot of family memories for me, but in a good way.

New personal record: only cried for five minutes when my situation changed, instead of twenty-five years. (It's cool, someone just touched me on the shoulder and acknowledged my existence when I wasn't playing my drums. Totally normal.)

Happy birthday.

I wanted to give you all of this in person, but I know you're still upset and I know how important it is to have time to come to terms with everything. The cake isn't as good as mum's, but I did my best with it. Harry supervised, so I promise I didn't mess up and use salt instead of sugar or something.

I know we bicker all the time, and I know tease you a lot, but I'm glad you are here. Hell, I'm glad I've had you around all these years. When you are ready to celebrate properly, we'll get everyone together and do whatever you want for a day.

In thinking about what to get you, I went with your favorites. The chess set isn't charmed like the one at home, but I think I can manage to do that if you would prefer them. The driving lessons, well, we talked about learning a few months ago and I figured you would enjoy something practical that might help make living here easier.

If you want to talk some more, I'm here. You don't have to go through all of this alone.

The rumors of my demise, as detailed by the numerous texts, missed calls, and voicemails, are overexaggerated. I'm fine. Dunno why everyone panicked. Disappearing isn't even the weirdest thing that's happened in this place this week. But it's nice to know you lot would miss me if I was gone.

I do, however, have a couple of years' worth of new memories in my head. Sorry to inform you, Ron, but the Cannons still haven't won the league. Harpies do in 2003 though. Was really a banner year for me all around.
