I hate valentines day. I know its like... I want to be really romantic with Molly, you know? But there is also a lot of pressure to be romantic and then I always get weird and worried about messing it up. You know?

Probably not a bad idea to document who's getting wings. I haven't seen anything about it on the local outlets, so it seems this might be another "just us" sort of thing.

Since post graduate study doesn't exactly pay well I figured I should probably get a job to get me through the next two years.

The good news is there's a 40% staff discount and I don't own enough books (shh, Lydia).

It's been awhile since I've been here. Although what the hell did you all do? Bay area is supposed to be mild weather and queer love - but it's colder than a witch's tit out there. Is this nuclear winter/permafrost we were warned about?

At least I've got my coat here. Can't imagine if I showed up here in just my birthday suit. I mean, it would have gotten some attention, but I'd be a tad worried for the safety of my best assets.

Since I'm sure we've all got cabin fever and are somewhat over the winter wonderland outside... not to mention Daine's post reminded me that there's probably a fair amount of birthdays we've probably missed celebrating..

How do folks feel about a community luau this weekend? Indoors and maybe with a bit of magic to set the tropical vibe.. Some cupcakes and music...

I know we have bigger problems and this is a random statement but

It's weird when you hear two people arguing (Jason and Yelena. It's Jason and Yelena) and they switch languages mid-sentence. Multiple times. And it's weirder when you can follow the argument.

Which brings me to my point and I know it's been asked before but I'm asking again:

Other than English, what languages do you speak? I'm only claiming fluency in 12. Yes, I realize that's a brag. But I blame Bruce.

I'm willing to admit I probably shouldn't have bothered, but I really thought the jeep was better at handling things like a little cold weather now.

We're all agreed it's this place doing it's weird crap, right? None of this is normal.

This is a pretty inconvenient time for heating to be busted in the classrooms.

I felt compelled to start something in the new year to challenge myself that isn’t academic so I’m taking a martial arts class after school. Too late to include that on any college applications but that’s okay, telling myself not everything has to be for the purpose of reaching that goal. I should be hearing back from one. Any day now.

Can you check the mail? I have a feeling. Not a Banshee feeling, just a regular Lydia feeling that if my letter doesn’t come soon I’m going to assume it’s lost in the mail and hold the post office hostage until I get it.

So like, half my class didn’t show up today. I think this weather is keeping people home. The profs are making noises like classes might be cancelled if this gets worse.

Cold doesn’t bother me so if anyone needs anything while I’m out, just send me a message.

It's cold. and I'm glad suddenly I don't drive since even just walking down to the comic shop today I could barely see an inch ahead and fell on my ass twice.

Christmas was...not as bad as I thought it might turn out. Thanks to those who came to do cookies. I feel less alone here. That helps a lot.

So. Birthday at the end of the month. 14 is not as exciting as 13, but we'll make it a banger.
