As I was leaving the precinct at the end of shift, I suddenly burst into song for no reason at all.

I guess I need to quit my job now. Thank god the rest the Intelligence Unit from home isn't here. I'd never hear the end of it.

My name is Adam Ruzek and I'm a police officer. If any of you need any help or need someone to look out for you, let me know.

I can't believe that I'm about to say this but I kind of miss winter in Chicago. It feels really weird to not have to wear a winter coat right now.

When I woke up, the keys to my jeep were sitting on my nightstand and my jeep was in the garage. I don't know how or why but I'm glad to have it here.

I can't believe that another year has come and gone already.

Happy New Year everyone. Whatever you're getting into tonight, be safe. Have a plan for getting home if you're going to be drinking. I don't want to see you at the station tomorrow.

So, in the spirit of showing good faith and all, I wanted to tell you a little about me. Yes, I am a vampire, but I'm what we call in my world an Original. We don't need to dive into the family history, it just ultimately means I'm stronger and faster compared to other vampires. It also means I can compel other vampires, which brings me to my point of this post.

Vampires in my world can compel individuals, think of it like mind control, and we can make you do anything. We can also make you forget whatever we want you to forget. I'm saying this because in case any vampires from my world show up, they might try it. Not all of them are as friendly as I am. There is a way to protect yourself from compulsion, it's called vervain. It's a herb, if it's in your system then you can't be compelled. I believe it should be available here, though I have no idea how effective it is since this is another world.

I'm not sure my dad would be thrilled about me living with a bunch of random dudes. No offense.

Guess I'm gonna be missing my conference.

I have seen a lot of things but waking up in San Francisco in the future when I went to sleep in Chicago is definitely new.
