It was nice to be home for the Fourth, even if it's not home-home. Last night's party stirred up a lot of family memories for me, but in a good way.

It makes me wonder: even if you're not from America, what's your favorite holiday memory, with your family or not?

	When I was younger? Ded Moroz, of course. We didn't have much but my mother and grandmother always made sure "he" left something for us. When I got older, I just liked being with them. Dhampir boys get shipped off pretty quickly. And the food. SO much food. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Russian New Year is a bigger holiday. The whole Soviet Union mess, and all. But my family liked to keep the holiday going.

School, yes. Training, really. I wouldn't say mandatory in that someone would come to collect you if you were unwilling but there was shame in it if you did not become a Guardian. It was always in my future.

Here, however, I quite enjoy teaching something other than how to take down a full grown man (or woman) who is faster and stronger and actively trying to kill you and/or your charge.

	Honestly? It's a toss-up between Halloween and Christmas. Halloween was always a big deal at Hogwarts. A feast, entertainment, brilliant decorations. Christmas because there are lots of sweets and it's nice to spend time with my family. (Reply to this) (Thread)
